Note:Whenreplacingthesystemboardyoumustalsoorderanewretentionmoduleforthenewsystem
board.Makesureyouhavearetentionmoduleforthenewsystemboardbeforecontinuingwiththis
procedure.
Thissectionprovidesinstructionsonhowtoremoveandinstallthesystemboard.
Toreplacethesystemboard,dothefollowing:
1.Removethesidecover.See"Removingthecover"onpage68.
2.Placethecomputeronitsrightsidetohelpmakethesystemboardmoreaccessible.
3.RemoveanyPCIadaptercardsinstalled."ReplacingaPCIadaptercard"onpage80
4.Disconnectthesignalandpowercablesfromtheharddiskdrive.
5.Pressthereleasetab1down,slidetheharddrivecage2back,andpivottheharddiskdriveoutward
asshown.
6.Carefullytakenoteofthelocationofallcableconnectionsonthesystemboardanddisconnectallcables.

7.Removethescrewsthatsecurethesystemboardtothechassis.
8.Liftthesystemboardoutofthechassis.
9.Removethememorymodulesfromthefailingsystemboardandinstalltheminthesamelocationon
thenewsystemboard.
10.Rotatehandle1toreleasetheheatsinkclampandthendisengagetheclampfromtheplasticretention
bracket.
