Thissectionprovidesinformationonhowtoremoveandreplacethemicroprocessor.
Toremoveorreplacethemicroprocessor,dothefollowing:
1.Removethecover.See"Removingthecover"onpage94.
2.Liftthefanductofftheheatsinkfan.
3.Disconnecttheheatsinkandfanassemblycablefromthesystemboard.See"Locatingpartsonthe
systemboard"onpage95.
4.Rotatehandle1toreleasetheheatsinkclampandthendisengagetheclampfromtheplasticretention
bracket.
5.Lifttheheatsinkandfanassemblyoffthesystemboard.Placetheheatsinkonitssidesothatthe
thermalgreasedoesnotcomeincontactwithanything.
Note:Youmighthavetogentlytwisttheheatsinktofreeitfromthemicroprocessor.
6.Toreleasethemicroprocessor2fromthesystemboardsocket,liftthesmallhandle1.
