thetelephonecabletotheEthernetconnector.
Wirelessconnections
Wirelessconnectionisthetransferofdatawithouttheuseofcablesbutbymeansofradiowavesonly.
Dependingonthewirelessdevicesinstalledonyourcomputer,youmightbeabletousethefollowing
wirelessnetworks:
Wireless-LANconnection
Bluetoothconnection
Usingthewireless-LANconnection
Awireless-LANcoversarelativelysmallgeographicarea,suchasanofficebuildingorahouse.Devices
basedonthe802.11standardscanconnecttothistypeofnetwork.
Yourcomputercomeswithabuilt-inwirelessnetworkcardandaconfigurationutilitytohelpyouestablish
wirelessconnectionsandmonitortheconnectionstatus.Thisenablesyoutostayconnectedtoyournetwork
whileyouareattheoffice,inameetingroom,orathome,withnoneedforawiredconnection.

1.Clickthewireless-network-connection-statusiconintheWindowsnotificationarea.Alistofavailable
wirelessnetworksisdisplayed.
2.Double-clickanetworktoconnecttoit.Providerequiredinformationifneeded.
Thecomputerautomaticallyconnectstoanavailablewirelessnetworkwhenthelocationchanges.Open
NetworkandSharingCentertomanagemultiplenetworkprofiles.Formoreinformation,refertothe
Windowshelpinformationsystem.
Tipsforusingthewireless-LANfeature
Toachievethebestconnection,usethefollowingguidelines:
Placeyourcomputersothatthereareasfewobstaclesaspossiblebetweenthewireless-LANaccess
pointandthecomputer.
Openyourcomputerlidtoanangleofslightlymorethan90degrees.
Ifyouusethewirelessfeature(the802.11standard)ofyourcomputersimultaneouslywithaBluetooth
option,thedatatransmissionspeedcanbedelayedandtheperformanceofthewirelessfeaturecanbe
degraded.
