password,youmakeitimpossibleforanyonebutyoutomakechanges.
Setting,changing,orremovingasupervisorpassword
Onlyasystemadministratorcanset,change,orremoveasupervisorpassword.
Toset,change,orremoveasupervisorpassword,dothefollowing:
1.Printtheseinstructions.
2.Saveallopenfiles,andexitallprograms.
3.Turnyourcomputeroffandthenturnitonagain.
4.Whenthelogoscreenisdisplayed,pressF1.TheThinkPadSetupprogrammainmenuopens.
5.SelectSecurity,usingthepointerdirectionalkeystomovedownthemenu.
6.SelectPassword.
7.SelectSupervisorPassword.
8.Awindowopens,promptingyoutoenteranewpassword.Dependingonyourneeds,dooneofthe
following:
•Tosetapassword,dothefollowing:
a.IntheEnterNewPasswordfield,typeadesiredpasswordandpressEnter.
b.IntheConfirmNewPasswordfield,retypethepasswordandpressEnter.
•Tochangeapassword,dothefollowing:
a.IntheEnterCurrentPasswordfield,typethecurrentsupervisorpasswordandpressEnter.
b.IntheEnterNewPasswordfield,typethenewsupervisorpassword;thenretypethepassword
youjustenteredtoverifyitintheConfirmNewPasswordfield.PressEnter.
•Toremoveapassword,dothefollowing:
a.IntheEnterCurrentPasswordfield,typethecurrentsupervisorpasswordandpressEnter.
b.LeavetheEnterNewPasswordandConfirmNewPasswordfieldsblank.PressEnter.
Attention:Youmightwanttonotedownyourpasswordandkeepitinasafeplace.Ifyouforgetyour
supervisorpassword,Lenovocannotresetyourpassword.YoumusttakeyourcomputertoaLenovo
reselleroraLenovomarketingrepresentativetohavethesystemboardreplaced.Proofofpurchaseis
required,andafeewillbechargedforpartsandservice.
9.IntheSetupNoticewindowthatisdisplayed,pressEntertocontinue.
10.PressFn+F10.TheSetupConfirmationwindowopens.SelectYestosaveconfigurationchanges
andexit.
ThenexttimeyouopentheThinkPadSetupprogram,youwillbepromptedtotypeyourpasswordtoproceed.
