•Problem:Thescreenisunreadableordistorted.
Solution:Ensurethat:
–Thedisplaydevicedriverisinstalledcorrectly.
–Thescreenresolutionandcolorqualityarecorrectlyset.
–Themonitortypeiscorrect.
Tocheckthesesettings,dothefollowing:
1.Right-clickonthedesktop,andclickDisplaysettings➙Advanceddisplaysettings.
Note:Ifyourcomputercannotdetecttheexternalmonitor,clickDetectintheDisplaywindow.
2.SelecttheexternalmonitorandsetResolution.
3.ClickDisplayadapterproperties.
4.ClicktheMonitortab.Checkthemonitorinformationtomakesurethatthemonitortypeiscorrect.If
itis,clickOKtoclosethewindow;otherwiseproceedwiththefollowingsteps.
5.Ifmorethantwomonitortypesaredisplayed,selectGenericPnPMonitororGenericNon-PnP
Monitor.
6.ClickProperties.Ifyouarepromptedforanadministratorpasswordorconfirmation,typethe
passwordorprovideconfirmation.
7.ClicktheDrivertab.
8.ClickUpdateDriver.
9.ClickBrowsemycomputerfordriversoftware,andthenclickLetmepickfromalistofdevice
driversonmycomputer.
10.CleartheShowcompatiblehardwarecheckbox.
11.Selectthecorrectmanufacturerandmodelfortheexternalmonitor.Ifyoucannotfindyourmonitor
onthelist,stoptheinstallationofthisdriverandusethedrivershippedwithyourmonitor.
12.Afterupdatingthedriver,clickClose.
•Problem:Incorrectcharactersaredisplayedonthescreen.
Solution:Ensurethatyouinstalltheoperatingsystemandprogramcorrectly.Iftheproblempersists,
havethecomputerserviced.
•Problem:ItrytoturnoffmycomputerbutthescreenstaysonandIcannotcompletelyturnoffmy
computer.
Solution:Pressandholdthepowerbuttonforfoursecondsormoretoturnoffthecomputer.
•Problem:Missing,discolored,orbrightdotsappearonthescreeneverytimeIturnonmycomputer.
Solution:ThisisanintrinsiccharacteristicoftheTFTtechnology.Yourcomputerdisplaycontains
multiplethin-filmtransistors(TFTs).Onlyaverysmallnumberofmissing,discolored,orbrightdots
onthescreenmightexistallthetime.
Externalmonitorproblems
•Problem:Theexternalmonitorisblank.
Solution:Tobringuptheimage,pressthedisplay-modeswitchingkey
andselectthemonitoryou
want.Iftheproblempersists,dothefollowing:
1.Connecttheexternalmonitortoanothercomputertoensurethatitworks.
2.Reconnecttheexternalmonitortoyourcomputer.
3.Seethemanualshippedwiththeexternalmonitortochecktheresolutionsandrefreshratesthat
aresupported.
