EnablingthebatteryalarmontheWindows7operatingsystem
FortheWindows7operatingsystem,youcanprogramyourcomputersothatwhenthebatterypowerfalls
belowacertainlevel,threeeventsoccur:thealarmgoesoff,amessageisdisplayed,andtheLCDis
turnedoff.
Toenablethebatteryalarm,dothefollowing:
1.StartthePowerManagerprogram.
2.ClicktheGlobalPowerSettingstab.
3.ForLowbatteryalarmorCriticallylowbatteryalarm,setthepercentageofthepowerlevelandset
theaction.
Note:Ifyourcomputerenterssleeporhibernationmodewhenthebatterypowerislowwithoutthealarm
message,themessageisdisplayedwhenthecomputerresumes.Toresumenormaloperation,whenthe
messageisdisplayed,clickOK.
Chargingthebattery
Whenyoufindthattheremainingbatterypowerislow,chargeyourbatteryorreplacetheremovablebattery
withachargedbattery.
Ifanacoutletisconvenient,connectthecomputertoacpower.Thebatteryisfullychargedinabout
fourtoeighthours.Theactualchargingtimedependsonthebatterysize,thephysicalenvironment,and
whetheryouareusingthecomputer.Youcancheckthebatterychargingstatusatanytimethroughthe
batterystatusiconintheWindowsnotificationarea.
Note:Tomaximizethelifeofthebattery,thecomputerdoesnotstartrechargingthebatteryiftheremaining
powerisgreaterthan95%.
Tipsonchargingthebattery
•Beforeyouchargethebattery,makesurethatthetemperatureislowerthan10°C(50°F).
•Chargethebatteryinanyofthefollowingconditions:
–Anewbatteryisinstalled.
–Thepercentageofpowerremainingislow.
–Thebatteryhasnotbeenusedforalongtime.
Maximizingthebatterylife
Tomaximizethelifeofthebattery,dothefollowing:
•Usethebatteryuntilthechargeisdepleted.
•Rechargethebatterycompletelybeforeusingit.Youcanseewhetherthebatteryisfullychargedfromthe
batterystatusiconintheWindowsnotificationarea.
•Usepowermanagementfeaturessuchaspower-savingmodeswhenevernecessary.
Handlingthebattery
ThissystemsupportsonlybatteriesspeciallydesignedforthisspecificsystemandmanufacturedbyLenovo
oranauthorizedbuilder.Thesystemdoesnotsupportunauthorizedbatteriesorbatteriesdesignedfor
othersystems.Ifanunauthorizedbatteryorabatterydesignedforanothersystemisinstalled,thesystem
doesnotcharge.
