Thereisadangerofanexplosionifthecoin-cellbatteryisincorrectlyplaced.Thelithiumbattery
containslithiumandcanexplodeifitisnotproperlyhandled,ordisposedof.Replaceonlywitha
batteryofthesametype.Toavoidpossibleinjuryordeath,donot:(1)throworimmerseintowater,
(2)allowittoheattomorethan100°C(212°F),or(3)attempttorepairordisassembleit.Disposeof
itasrequiredbylocalordinancesorregulationsandyourcompany'ssafetystandards.
Managingthepowerplan
Toachievethebestbalancebetweenperformanceandpowersaving,adjustyourpowerplansettings.
Toadjustpowerplansettings,dothefollowing:
1.GotoControlPanelandthenchangetheviewofControlPanelfromCategorytoLargeiconsorSmall
icons.
2.ClickPowerOptions.
3.Followtheinstructionsonthescreen.
Power-savingmodes
Thereareseveralmodesthatyoucanusetoconservepoweraccordingtoyoursituationandcomputing
needs.Thissectionintroduceseachmodeandgivestipsontheeffectiveuseofbatterypower.
•Screenblankmode(forWindows7only)
Thecomputerdisplayrequiresconsiderablebatterypower.Toenterscreenblankmode,right-clickthe
batterygaugeiconinthewindowsnotificationareaandselectPoweroffdisplay.
•Sleepmode
Insleepmode,yourworkissavedtomemory,andthenthestoragedriveandthecomputerdisplayare
turnedoff.Whenyourcomputerwakesup,yourworkisrestoredwithinseconds.
Toputyourcomputerintosleepmode,dothefollowing:
–ForWindows7:OpentheStartmenu,thenclickthearrownexttotheShutdownbutton.Click
Sleepfromthemenudisplayed.
–ForWindows10:OpentheStartmenu,clickPower,andthenclickSleep.
•Hibernationmode
Byusingthismode,youcanturnoffyourcomputercompletelywithoutsavingfilesorexitingany
programsthatarerunning.Whenthecomputerentershibernationmode,allopenprograms,folders,and
filesaresavedtothestoragedrive,andthenthecomputerturnsoff.
Toputthecomputerintohibernationmode,dothefollowing:
–ForWindows7:OpentheStartmenu,thenclickthearrownexttotheShutdownbutton.Click
Hibernatefromthemenudisplayed.
–ForWindows10:Definewhatthepowerbuttondoesfirstandthenpressthepowerbuttontoputthe
computerintohibernationmode.Formoreinformation,see“Frontview”onpage1

Ifyouputyourcomputerintohibernationmodewiththewake-upfunctiondisabled,thecomputerdoes
notconsumeanypower.Thewake-upfunctionisdisabledbydefault.Ifyouputyourcomputerinto
hibernationmodewiththewake-upfunctionenabled,thecomputerconsumesasmallamountofpower.
