•Theprocessofinstallinganewoperatingsystemdeletesallthedataonyourinternalstoragedrive,
includingthedatathatwerestoredinahiddenfolder.
•IfyourcomputerisequippedwithbothaharddiskdriveandanM.2solid-statedrive,donotusethe
M.2solid-statedriveasabootabledevice.TheM.2solid-statedriveisusedfor“cache”functionandto
supporttheIntelRapidStartTechnology.
ToinstalltheWindows8orWindows8.1operatingsystem,dothefollowing:
1.StarttheThinkPadSetupprogram.See“UsingtheThinkPadSetupprogram”onpage111.
2.SelectStartup➙BoottodisplaytheBootPriorityOrdersubmenu.
3.Selectthedrivethatcontainstheoperatingsysteminstallationprogram,forexampleUSBHDD.
4.PresstheF10keytoexittheThinkPadSetupprogram.
5.Connectthedrivethatcontainstheoperatingsysteminstallationprogramtothecomputer,andrestart
thecomputer.
6.Installthedevicedriversandnecessaryprograms.See“Installingdevicedrivers”onpage111.
7.Afterinstallingthedevicedrivers,applyWindowsUpdatetogetthelatestmodules,forexamplethe
securitypatches.
8.Dependingonyourpreference,installLenovoprograms.ForinformationaboutLenovoprograms,
see“Lenovoprograms”onpage14.
