InstallinganExpressCard,aﬂashmediacard,orasmartcard

Attention:

•Beforeyoustartinstallingacard,touchametaltableoragroundedmetalobject.Thisactionreducesany

staticelectricityfromyourbody.Staticelectricitycoulddamagethecard.

•DonotinsertanExpressCardwhilethecomputerisinsleepmodeorhibernationmode.Otherwise,the

computermightnotrespondwhenyoutrytoresumeusingit.

Toinstallacard,dothefollowing:

1.Locatetheappropriatetypeofslotforyourcard.See“Locatingcomputercontrols,connectors,

andindicators”onpage1.

2.Makesurethatthecardiscorrectlyoriented:

•ForExpressCard:Thenotchededgeofthecardisfacingupwardandpointingtowardtothecardslot.

•Forﬂashmediacard:Themetalcontactsarefacingdownandpointingtowardthecardslot.

•Forsmartcard:Themetalcontactsarefacingupwardandpointingtowardthecardslot.

3.Pressthecardﬁrmlyintothecardslot.

Iftheplug-and-playfeatureisnotenabledfortheinstalledExpressCard,ﬂashmediacard,orsmartcard,

dothefollowingtoenablethefeature:

1.OpenControlPanel.

2.ClickHardwareandSound.

3.ClickDeviceManager.Ifyouarepromptedforanadministratorpasswordorconﬁrmation,typethe

passwordorprovideconﬁrmation.

4.FromtheActionmenu,selectAddlegacyhardware.TheAddHardwareWizardstarts.

5.Followtheinstructionsonthescreen.
