Installinganewoperatingsystem

Insomesituations,youmightneedtoinstallanewoperatingsystem.Thistopicprovidesinstructionson

howtoinstallanewoperatingsystem.

InstallingtheWindows7operatingsystem

Beforeyoustart,printtheseinstructions.

Attention:Theprocessofinstallinganewoperatingsystemdeletesallthedataonyoursolid-statedrive,

includingthedatathatwerestoredinahiddenfolder.

ToinstalltheWindows7operatingsystem,dothefollowing:

1.CopyallthesubdirectoriesandﬁlesintheC:\SWTOOLSdirectorytoaremovablestoragedevice.

•ThesupplementﬁlesfortheWindows7operatingsystemareintheC:\SWTOOLS\OSFIXESdirectory.

•ThedevicedriversareintheC:\SWTOOLS\DRIVERSdirectory.

•ThepreinstalledprogramsareintheC:\SWTOOLS\APPSdirectory.

2.StarttheThinkPadSetupprogram.See“UsingtheThinkPadSetupprogram”onpage93.

3.SelectStartup➙UEFI/LegacyBoot.Thendooneofthefollowing:

•ToinstalltheWindows7(32-bit)operatingsystem,selectLegacyOnlyorBoth.

•ToinstalltheWindows7(64-bit)operatingsysteminLegacymode,selectLegacyOnly.

•ToinstalltheWindows7(64-bit)operatingsysteminUEFImode,selectUEFIOnly.

4.PressF10.ASetupConﬁrmationwindowisdisplayed.ClickYestosavetheconﬁgurationandexit

theThinkPadSetupprogram.

5.InserttheWindows7operatingsysteminstallationDVDintotheopticaldrive,andrestartthecomputer.

6.RestoretheC:\SWTOOLSdirectorythatyoubackedupbeforeinstallingtheWindows7operatingsystem.

7.Installthedevicedrivers.See“Installingdevicedrivers”onpage93.

8.InstalltheWindows7ﬁxmodules.YoucanﬁndtheWindows7ﬁxmodulesintheC:\SWTOOLS\OSFIXES\

directory.Formoreinformation,gototheMicrosoftKnowledgeBasehomepageat:

9.Installtheregistrypatches,forexample,theEnablingWakeonLANfromStandbyforENERGYSTAR

patch.Todownloadandinstalltheregistrypatches,gototheLenovoSupportWebsiteat:
