Installingdevicedrivers
Devicedriveristheprogramthatoperatesaparticularhardwaredeviceofthecomputer.Ifadevicedoes
notperformwelloryouinstallanewdevice,youneedtoinstallorupdatethecorrespondingdevicedriver.
Forexample,ifyouusetheWindows7operatingsystem,tousetheUSB3.0connector,youneedto
downloadandinstalltheUSB3.0driver.
Todownloadthelatestdevicedrivers,dothefollowing:
1.Gotohttp://www.lenovo.com/ThinkPadDrivers.
2.Selectyourproductnametoviewallthedevicedriversforyourcomputer.
3.Selectthedevicedriversyouthatyouneed,andfollowtheinstructionsonthescreen.
Attention:DonotdownloadthedevicedriversfromtheWindowsUpdateWeb.Alwaysdownloadthedevice
driversfrom:
http://www.lenovo.com/ThinkPadDrivers
IfyouusetheWindows7operatingsystem,youalsocanfindthedevicedriversintheC:\SWTOOLS\DRIVERS
directoryonyoursolid-statedrive.Formoreinformation,see“Reinstallingpreinstalledprogramsand
devicedrivers”onpage71.
UsingtheThinkPadSetupprogram
TheThinkPadSetupprogramenablesyoutoselectvarioussetupconfigurationsforyourcomputerthrough
configuringtheBIOS.
ToconfiguretheBIOSofyourcomputer,dothefollowing:
1.Restartthecomputer.WhentheThinkPadlogoisdisplayed,pressF1tostarttheThinkPadSetup
program.
Note:Ifyouarerequiredtoenterthesupervisorpassword,enterthecorrectpassword.Youalsocan
pressEntertoskipthepasswordpromptandstarttheThinkPadSetupprogram.Ifyoudonotenterthe
password,youcannotchangetheconfigurationsthatareprotectedbythesupervisorpassword.For
moreinformation,referto“Usingpasswords”onpage55.
2.Usethecursorkeystoselectatab;orusethecursorkeystolocateanitemandpressEntertoselect
theitem.Thenasubmenuisdisplayed.
Note:Somemenuitemsaredisplayedonlyifthecomputersupportsthecorrespondingfeatures.
3.Setthevalueofanitembydoingoneofthefollowing:
•PressF6tochangetoahighervalue.
•PressF5tochangetoalowervalue.
Note:Defaultvaluesareinboldface.
4.Tochangeotherconfigurations,presstheEsckeytoexitthesubmenuandreturntotheparentmenu.
5.Whenyoucompletetheconfiguration,pressF10.ASetupConfirmationwindowisdisplayed.ClickYes
tosavetheconfigurationandexittheThinkPadSetupprogram.YoualsocanselecttheRestarttabin
theThinkPadSetupmenu,andrestartyourcomputerwithoneoftheprovidedoptions.
