Thistopicprovidesinformationaboutconnectingaprojectororanexternalmonitor.
Usinganexternalmonitor
Note:Whenyouconnectanexternalmonitor,avideointerfacecablewithaferritecoreisrequired.
Yourcomputercansupportamaximumvideoresolutionofupto2560x1440orupto1600x900,provided
thattheexternalmonitoralsosupportsthatresolution.Formoreinformationabouttheexternalmonitor,refer
tothemanualsprovidedwiththeexternalmonitor.
Youcansetanyresolutionforeitherthecomputerdisplayortheexternalmonitor.Whenyouusebothatthe
sametime,theresolutionofbothisthesame.Ifyousetahigherresolutionforthecomputerdisplay,you
canseeonlypartofthescreenatatime.YoucanseeotherpartsbymovingtheimagewiththeTrackPoint
pointingdeviceoranotherpointingdevice.
IntheDisplaySettingswindow,youcanmovethedisplayoutputtothecomputerdisplay,theexternal
monitor,orboth.
Connectinganexternalmonitor
Toconnectanexternalmonitor,dothefollowing:
1.ConnecttheexternalmonitortotheMiniDisplayPortconnectorofyourcomputer.
2.Connecttheexternalmonitortoanelectricaloutlet.
3.Turnontheexternalmonitor.
4.Tapthedisplay-modeicon
intheFunctionmodetochangethedisplayoutputlocation.Thisenables
youtoswitchbetweenviewingoutputontheexternalmonitor,thecomputermonitor,orbothmonitors.
Note:Ifyourcomputercannotdetecttheexternalmonitor,right-clickanywhereonthedesktop,then
selectScreenresolution.ClicktheDetectbutton.
Settingtheexternalmonitortype
Tosettheexternalmonitortype,dothefollowing:
1.Connecttheexternalmonitortoyourcomputer,andthenconnectthemonitortoanelectricaloutlet.
2.Turnontheexternalmonitor.
3.Right-clickanywhereonthedesktop,andthenclickScreenresolution.
Note:Ifyourcomputercannotdetecttheexternalmonitor,clicktheDetectbutton.
4.SelecttheexternalmonitorandsetResolution.
5.ClickAdvancedSettings.
6.ClicktheMonitortab.Checkthemonitorinformationtomakesurethatthemonitortypeiscorrect.Ifit
is,clickOKtoclosethewindow;otherwiseproceedwiththefollowingsteps.
7.Ifmorethantwomonitortypesaredisplayed,selectGenericPnPMonitororGenericNon-PnP
Monitor.
8.ClickProperties.Ifyouarepromptedforanadministratorpasswordorconfirmation,typethepassword
orprovideconfirmation.
9.ClicktheDrivertab.
10.ClickUpdateDriver.
11.ClickBrowsemycomputerfordriversoftware,andthenclickLetmepickfromalistofdevice
driversonmycomputer.
