•Message:Thebatteryinstalledisnotsupportedbythissystemandwillnotcharge.Pleasereplacethe
batterywiththecorrectLenovobatteryforthissystem.PresstheESCkeytocontinue.
Solution:ReplacethebatterywiththecorrectLenovobatteryforthissystem.Ifyoustillseethesame

Solution:Youcandisableanysystemtimers,suchastheLCDturn-offtimerortheblanktimerby
doingthefollowing:
1.StartPowerManager.
2.ClickthePowerplantab,andthenselectMaximumPerformancefromthepredenedpowerplans.
•Problem:WhenIturnonthecomputer,nothingisdisplayedonthescreenandthecomputerdoesnot
beepwhilestartingup.
Note:Ifyouarenotsurewhetheryouheardanybeeps,turnoffthecomputerbypressingandholdingthe
powerbuttonforfoursecondsormore.Turnitonandlistenagain.
Solution:Makesurethat:
–Thebatteryisinstalledcorrectly.
–Theacpoweradapterisconnectedtothecomputerandthepowercordispluggedintoaworking
electricaloutlet.
–Thecomputeristurnedon.(Turnthepowerbuttononagainforconrmation.)
–Thebrightnesslevelofthescreenisappropriatelyset.

–Pressanykeytodisplaythepromptforthepower-onpassword.
–TypethecorrectpasswordandpressEnter.
Iftheseitemsarecorrectlyset,andthescreenremainsblank,havethecomputerserviced.
•Problem:WhenIturnonthecomputer,onlyawhitecursorisdisplayedonablankscreen.
Solution:Ifyouhavemodiedapartitiononyourharddiskdrivebyusingpartitionsoftware,information
aboutthatpartition,orthemasterbootrecordmighthavebeendestroyed.
1.Turnoffthecomputer,andthenturnitonagain.
2.Ifyoustillseeonlythecursoronthescreen,dothefollowing:
–Ifyouhaveusedthepartitionsoftware,examinethepartitionontheharddiskdrivebyusingthe
software,andrecoverthepartitionifrequired.
–UseeithertheRescueandRecoveryworkspaceortherecoverydiscstorestorethesystem
tothefactorystate.
