Supervisorpassword
ThesupervisorpasswordprotectsthesysteminformationstoredintheThinkPadSetupprogram.Ifyouhave
setasupervisorpassword,noonecanchangetheconfigurationofthecomputerwithoutthepassword.It
providesthefollowingsecurityfeatures:
•Ifonlyasupervisorpasswordisset,apasswordpromptisdisplayedwhenyoutrytostarttheThinkPad
Setupprogram.UnauthorizeduserscannotaccesstheThinkPadSetupprogramwithoutthepassword.
•Thesystemadministratorcanusethesupervisorpasswordtoaccessacomputereveniftheuserofthat
computerhassetapower-onpassword.Thesupervisorpasswordoverridesthepower-onpassword.
•Ifbothasupervisorpasswordandapower-onpasswordareset,youcandothefollowingonlyifyou
havethesupervisorpassword:
–Changingordeletingthepower-onpassword
