1.Turnoffyourcomputer.Waitforaboutfiveseconds,andthenturnonthecomputeragain.
2.Whenthelogoscreenisdisplayed,pressF1tostarttheThinkPadSetupprogram.
3.SelectSecurity➙SecurityChipbyusingthedirectionalkeys.
4.PressEnter.TheSecurityChipsubmenuopens.
5.Movetoanitemyouwanttosetbyusingthedirectionalkeys.Whentheitemishighlighted,pressEnter.
6.Setotheritemsthatyouwanttoset.
7.PressF10.ASetupConfirmationwindowisdisplayed.SelectY estosavetheconfigurationchanges
andexit.
Tipsonusingthesecuritychip
•EnsurethatthesupervisorpasswordhasbeensetinThinkPadSetup.Otherwiseanyonecanchangethe
settingsforthesecuritychip.
•Ifthesecuritychipisremovedorreplaced,oranewonehasbeenadded,thecomputerwillnotstart.You
willhearfourcyclesoffourbeepseach,oryouwillseeerrormessage0176or0192.
•Ifthesecuritychipisinactiveordisabled,theClearSecurityChipoptionwillnotbedisplayed.
•Whenyouclearthesecuritychip,turnoffyourcomputerandthenturnitonagainafteryousetthe
securitychiptoActive.Otherwise,theClearSecurityChipoptionisnotdisplayed.
Usingthefingerprintreader
Dependingonthemodel,yourcomputermighthaveafingerprintreader.Fingerprintauthenticationcan
replaceyourpasswords,suchastheWindowspassword,power-onpassword,andharddiskpassword.In
thisway,youcanlogontoyourcomputersimplyandsecurely.Toenablefingerprintauthentication,enroll
yourfingerprintsfirst.
Enrollingyourfingerprints
ToenrollyourfingerprintsontheWindows10operatingsystem,dothefollowing:
1.OpentheStartmenuandthenclickSettings.IfSettingsisnotdisplayed,clickAllappstodisplayall
programs,andthenclickSettings➙Accounts➙Sign-inoptions.
2.Followtheinstructionsonthescreentofinishtheenrollment.
Note:Itisrecommendedthatyouenrollmorethanonefingerprintincaseofanyinjuriestoyourfingers.
Scanningyourfinger
Toscanyourfinger,dothefollowing:
1.Tapthefingerprintreaderwiththetopjointofyourfingerandholdyourfingerthereforonetotwo
secondswithalittlepressure.Thenliftupthefingertocompleteonescan.
