Loosescrewscancauseareliabilityproblem.IntheThinkPadNotebook,thisproblemisaddressedwith

specialnylon-coatedscrewsthathavethefollowingcharacteristics:

•Theymaintaintightconnections.

•Theydonoteasilycomeloose,evenwithshockorvibration.

•Theyarehardertotighten.

•Eachoneshouldbeusedonlyonce.

Dothefollowingwhenyouservicethismachine:

•Keepthescrewkit(fortheP/N,see“Miscellaneousparts”onpage119)inyourtoolbag.

•Alwaysusenewscrews.

•Useatorquescrewdriverifyouhaveone.

Tightenscrewsasfollows:

•Plastictoplastic

Turnanadditional90degreesafterthescrewheadtouchesthesurfaceoftheplasticpart:

•Logiccardtoplastic

Turnanadditional180degreesafterthescrewheadtouchesthesurfaceofthelogiccard:

•Torquedriver

Ifyouhaveatorquedriver,refertothe“Torque”columnforeachstep.

•Makesurethatyouusethecorrectscrew.Ifyouhaveatorquescrewdriver,tightenallscrewsrmlytothe

torqueshowninthetable.Neveruseascrewthatyouremoved.Useanewone.Makesurethatall

ofthescrewsaretightenedrmly.

•Ensuretorquescrewdriversarecalibratedcorrectlyfollowingcountryspecications.
