CHOOSING THE POWER SOURCES You can use the AC power or batteries as a power source. Battery compartment To a wall outlet NOTE: One blade of plug and outlet is wider. AC SOCKET TIP • If the plug of the AC power cord does not match your outlet, do not force it. Reverse it and try again. The plug is polarized and only fits one way into the wall outlet and back of the set. • Replace the batteries when the POWER lamp dims or when the player stops operating. Replace all the batteries with new ones.
ATTACHING THE SPEAKERS NOTE: The right and left speakers are NOT interchangeable. The right speaker fits only on the right side (as shown in FIG. 1). The left speaker fits only on the left side. 1.Bring the right speaker to the right side of the set. 2.R a i s e t h e r i g h t s p e a k e r b o x a b o u t 4 inches above the set. Slide the FUNCTION switch to CD position, “ ” will show on the display. Open the CD DOOR by pressing PUSH OPEN/CLOSE area and push a CD disc down onto the center spindle. The label side of the CD should face upward. Close the CD door by pushing it down.
USE THESE BUTTONS FOR ADDITIONAL OPERATIONS TIP • • • When CD play is paused, the current playing track number will flash and no music will play. To r e s u m e p l a y, p r e s s t h e P L AY / PA U S E button again, the track number will stop flashing and music will play. If you bump the set or the table it is sitting on, during CD play, the music will stop or skip for a few seconds. This is normal for this type of player.
PLAYING CD TRACKS REPEATEDLY (REPEAT PLAY) You can play CD tracks over and over in normal or programmed play mode (see page 10). 1. 2. 3. 4. PLAYING CD TRACKS IN PROGRAMMED OR RANDOM ORDER 1. Programmed Play You can make a program of up to 16 tracks in the order you want them to be played. 1. Slide the FUNCTION switch to CD position. Make sure the CD is stopped. 2. Press the PROG. button. The letter “ ” will show and the PLAY/PROG. lamp will flash. 3. Press or to select the tracks you want to program in the order you want. 4. Press the PROG. button to confirm. The letter “ ” will show and the PROG. lamp will flash. 5.
LISTENING TO THE RADIO Connect the supplied AC power cord (see page 5). 1 2 3 4 5 Press the POWER button, the POWER lamp will be steadily on. Slide the FUNCTION switch to RADIO position. Slide the BAND switch to the proper band position (AM, FM or FM STEREO) that you want. Tune into the station you prefer using the TUNING control. Adjust for the clearest sound. The FM STEREO indicator will light up when receiving an FM Stereo broadcast.
USE THESE BUTTONS FOR ADDITIONAL OPERATIONS TIP • • If the FM broadcast is noisy, slide the BAND switch from FM STEREO to FM. Next time you want to listen to the radio, just slide the FUNCTION switch to RADIO position. The player will automatically start playing the previously tuned station. Close the door. INSERT TAPE THIS WAY FULL REEL ON LEFT Press the PLAY button. The player turns on and starts playing. When the set finishes playing one side of the tape, the set will automatically stop.
RECORDING ON A TAPE Connect the supplied AC power cord or batteries (refer to page 5). 1 STOP/EJ. 2 Press the STOP/EJ. button to open the tape compartment and insert a blank tape. Select the program source (AM, FM, CD, or built-in microphone) you want to record. To record from the CD player. Slide the FUNCTION switch to CD position, and insert a CD, then follow the CD playing steps to play. INSERT TAPE THIS WAY FULL REEL ON LEFT To record from a radio.

MAINTENANCE Cleaning the Lens If the lens becomes dirty, it may cause a skipping of sound during CD operation. Clean with a commercially available lens cleaner and blower. Notes for Storing Cassette Tapes 1. Do not put a tape near a magnetic field, such as a TV, or speaker. Magnetic fields may reduce the tape sensitivity or even erase the recording. 2. Do not store tape for any length of time in a hot, moist or dusty place.
TROUBLE SHOOTING General Problem The power is not on. There is no sound. CD player “ ” appears in the display even when a CD is in place. CD does not play. The sound drops out. Radio CD does not play while radio may continue to play. The sound is weak or has poor quality. Tape player The RECORD button does not function/The tape does not play. The tape does not erase completely. The tape does not record. Tape jamming or tangling. The sound is weak/The sound quality is poor.
