Screw and Crimp Type Contacts
ASSEMBLY AND WIRING INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING: TO BE INSTALLED AND/OR USED IN ACCORDANCE WITH APPROPRIATE ELECTRICAL CODES AND
REGULATIONS.

TO WIRE:
Recommended Cable – #12/3 through #16/3 Hard Usage Cable (SOOW, STOW, STOOW, SJOOW, SJTOW, SEOOW, etc.)
Screw and Crimp Type Contacts:
1. WARNING: TO AVOID FIRE, SHOCK, OR DEATH; TURN OFF POWER AT CIRCUIT BREAKER OR FUSE AND TEST
THAT POWER IS OFF BEFORE WIRING!
2. For Screw Type Devices:
A) Strip cable jacket back approximately 1-1/4" (3.2 cm) from end.
B) Strip 1/2" (1.3 cm) of insulation from each conductor.
3. For Crimp Type Devices:
A) Strip cable jacket back approximately 3/4" (1.9 cm) from end.
B) Strip 1/4" (0.64 cm) of insulation from each conductor.
4A. For Screw Type Devices: Attach conductors to contacts by sliding bare conductor (#16/3 wire) into ferrule ensuring stray
strands are contained and then conductor with ferrule into screw contact (refer to Fig. 1a). NOTE: For #12/3 and #14/3
wire, ferrule not required.
4B. For Crimp Type Devices: Crimp appropriate lugs (for wire size as marked on crimp lug) onto conductors ensuring stray strands
are contained within the size of the lug being used (refer to Fig. 1b).
NOTE: Use crimping tools KS Terminals model KST2000D-1322 or Izumi model 5N18.
5. Wire the contacts/lugs per the markings on the body of the device as follows:
125V
N – Neutral (White wire) G – Ground (Green wire) H – Hot (Black wire)
6. Tighten the brass terminal screws to 12-14 in.-lbs. of torque.
7. Insert strain relief as shown in Fig. 3. Strain relief should hold both conductors and cable jacket or sleeving.
NOTE: A single strain relief may be used on top or bottom.
8.
Secure back cover using two (2) steel screws provided. Tighten screws to approximately 16 in.-lbs. of torque (refer to Fig. 2).

Leviton warrants to the original consumer purchaser and not for the benefit of anyone else that this product at the time of its sale by Leviton is free of defects in materials and workmanship
under normal and proper use for two years from the purchase date. Leviton’s only obligation is to correct such defects by repair or replacement, at its option, if within such two year
period the product is returned prepaid, with proof of purchase date, and a description of the problem to Leviton Manufacturing Co., Inc., Att: Quality Assurance Department, 201
North Service Road, Melville, N.Y. 11747. This warranty excludes and there is disclaimed liability for labor for removal of this product or reinstallation. This warranty is void if this
product is installed improperly or in an improper environment, overloaded, misused, opened, abused, or altered in any manner, or is not used under normal operating conditions or not
in accordance with any labels or instructions. There are no other or implied warranties of any kind, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose, but if any
implied warranty is required by the applicable jurisdiction, the duration of any such implied warranty, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose, is limited to two years.
Leviton is not liable for incidental, indirect, special, or consequential damages, including without limitation, damage to, or loss of use of, any equipment, lost sales or profits
or delay or failure to perform this warranty obligation. The remedies provided herein are the exclusive remedies under this warranty, whether based on contract, tort or otherwise.
