LIMITED TEN YEAR WARRANTY AND EXCLUSIONS
Leviton warrants to the original consumer purchaser and not
for the benefit of anyone else that this product at the time of its
sale by Leviton is free of defects in materials and workmanship
under normal and proper use for ten years from the purchase
date. Leviton’s only obligation is to correct such defects by repair
or replacement, at its option, if within such ten year period the
product is returned prepaid, with proof of purchase date, and a
description of the problem to Leviton Manufacturing Co., Inc.,
Att: Quality Assurance Department, 59-25 Little Neck Parkway,
Little Neck, New York 11362-2591. This warranty excludes and
there is disclaimed liability for labor for removal of this product
or reinstallation. This warranty is void if this product is installed
improperly or in an improper environment, overloaded, misused,
opened, abused, or altered in any manner, or is not used under
normal operating conditions or not in accordance with any
labels or instructions. There are no other or implied warranties
of any kind, including merchantability and fitness for a particular
purpose, but if any implied warranty is required by the applicable
jurisdiction, the duration of any such implied warranty, including
merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose, is limited to
ten years. Leviton is not liable for incidental, indirect, special, or
consequential damages, including without limitation, damage to,
or loss of use of, any equipment, lost sales or profits or delay
or failure to perform this warranty obligation. The remedies
provided herein are the exclusive remedies under this warranty,
whether based on contract, tort or otherwise.

INTRODUCTION
Leviton’s Four-In-One Surge Protection Receptacles are designed to reduce the random energy surges of voltage transients and electrical
noise on the power supply line.
Leviton’s Four-In-One Surge Protective Receptacles can be used to protect sensitive electronic equipment in industrial, commercial and
residential locations, from the stress and degradation inflicted by voltage transients.
Isolated Ground (-IG) Surge Protective Receptacles provide a pure grounding path isolated from the normal grounding means which employs
the unit’s mounting strap.
The diagnostics LED indicator light is ON continuously when protection is active, but turns OFF when protection circuit is deactivated due
to excessive transients. The entire unit must be replaced if surge protection is required. If the unit is not replaced, it will function only as a
conventional receptacle within its given rating.
Leviton’s Four-In-One Surge Protective Receptacles are UL listed to mount on a standard single wall box without an adapter plate. However,
you may use the Leviton Cat. No. 3254 Adapter Plate in all applications for a more decorative look. This plate is sold separately. The Leviton
Portable Box (Cat. No. 4254) can be used to surface mounting where an electrical box does not exist. The Portable Box is sold separately.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

WARNING: IF YOU ARE NOT SURE ABOUT ANY PART OF THESE INSTRUCTIONS, CONSULT A QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN.
WARNING: THIS DEVICE IS NOT A LIGHTNING ARRESTOR. IT WILL NOT SURVIVE LIGHTNING STRIKES IN CLOSE PROXIMITY TO
THE PREMISES.
OTHER CAUTIONS:
1. INSTALL THIS DEVICE ONLY IN A SINGLE BRANCH CIRCUIT PROTECTED BY A FUSE OR A CIRCUIT BREAKER.
2. USE THIS DEVICE ONLY WITH COPPER OR COPPER CLAD WIRE. WITH ALUMINUM WIRE USE ONLY DEVICES MARKED CO/ALR
OR CU/AL.
3. A SURGE PROTECTIVE RECEPTACLE WILL PROVIDE MAXIMUM PROTECTION FOR LOADS PLUGGED DIRECTLY INTO IT. IT
WILL PROVIDE SOME PROTECTION TO NEARBY RECEPTACLES, THOUGH PROTECTION DIMINISHES PROPORTIONALLY WITH
THE LENGTH OF WIRE RUN.
TO INSTALL:
1. WARNING: TO AVOID FIRE, SHOCK, OR DEATH; TURN OFF POWER AT CIRCUIT BREAKER OR FUSE AN TEST THAT POWER IS
OFF BEFORE WIRING!
2. Remove the insulation on each circuit conductor to expose 1” (2.5 cm) bare
copper wire at end of circuit wire. Keep wire ends straight.
3. Connect wires as follows: Twist all strands firmly together. Insert the conductor
in the snub hole and wrap the conductor counterclockwise around the terminal
screw. BLACK conductor to BRASS screw, WHITE conductor to SILVER screw,
and GREEN conductor to GREEN hex screw. Be sure there are no loose strands.
If system ground is uninsulated, the pigtail the uninsulated ground wire (which
may be provided) from the GREEN hex screw to the electrical box.
4. Tighten terminal screws clockwise.
5. Mount receptacle (refer to Mounting Instructions for you application).
6. Restore power at circuit breaker or fuse. INSTALLATION IS COMPLETE.
PORTABLE BOX MOUNTING
USE FLEXIBLE CORD ONLY IN THIS CONFIGURATION. NEVER USE WITH UNINSULATED GROUND CONDUCTOR. A GROUND
SHORT MAY OCCUR. PORTABLE BOX CONFIGURATIONS ARE NOT UL LISTED.
1. For surface mounting, remove the knockouts in the back of the box. Mount the box on the surface using #6 screws (not provided). Be sure
that the box’s cord hole is oriented correctly before mounting the box.
2. Remove the cord jacket about 6” (15.2 cm). Be sure not to damage the insulation. An electrical short of current leakage may occur which
may cause harm to the equipment or cause bodily injury. Remove the insulation on each conductor about 1” (2.5 cm).
3. Thread the cord through the box’s cord hole and under the strain relief clamp.
4. Connect wires as follows: Twist all strands firmly together. Insert the conductor in the snub
hole and wrap the conductor counterclockwise around the terminal screw. BLACK conductor
to BRASS screw, WHITE conductor to SILVER screw, and GREEN conductor to GREEN hex
screw. Tighten terminal screws clockwise. Be sure there are no loose strands.
5. Mount the screws into the relief clamps. Tighten each BLACK strain relief clamp into the slot
above each cord hole. Ensure that each cord is clamped tightly.
6. Fold wires carefully into box and mount the Surge Protective Receptacle with the four #8-32 x
1” long screws provided.

INTRODUCTION
Les adaptateurs quadriprises avec protecteur de surtensions de Leviton sont conçues pour réduire les crêtes d’énergie aléatoires causées
par la présence de surtensions transitoires ou de bruit électrique sur les circuits d’alimentation.
Ces prises peuvent protéger le matériel électronique délicat utilisé dans les applications industrielles , commerciales et résidentielles contre
les contraintes et la dégradation que peuvent cause les transitoires.
Les adaptateurs quadriprises avec mise à la terre isolée (-IG) assurent un parcours de M.A.L.T. isolé, distinct du trajet habituel par la bride de
montage de la prise.
Elles sont dotées d’in indicateur diagnostique à DEL qui reste continuellement allumé tant que la protection est assurée; il se met à clignoter
et s’éteint lorsqu’il y a panne de protection en raison de la présence de surtensions excessives sur le circuit; le cas échéant, on doit
remplacer le dispositif si on désire rétablir la protection du système; si le dispositif n’est pas remplacé, il ne pourra être utilisé que comme
prise conventionnelle, en respectant les valeurs nominales prescrites.
Les adaptateurs quadriprises avec protecteur de surtensions de Leviton s’installe dans les boîtes murales standard, sans nécessiter
d’adaptateur; l’adaptateur N° de cat. 3254 peut cependant être utilisé dans toutes les applications pour obtenir une apparence plus élégante;
ce adaptateur est vendu séparément. La boîte portative (N° de cat. 4254) de Leviton permet d’encastrer le adaptateur quadriprise là où il n’y
a pas d’installation existant; ce dispositif est vendu séparément.

AUTRES MISES EN GARDE :

DISPOSITIFS PORTANT LA MARQUE CO/ALR OU CU/AL.
3. LES PRISES À DISPOSITIF LIMITEUR DE SURTENSIONS OFFRENT UNE PROTECTION MAXIMALE AUX CHARGES QUI LEUR
SONT DIRECTEMENT ENFICHÉES; ELLES PROTÈGENT CEPENDANT LES PRISES AVOISINANTES, MAIS LE NIVEAU DE
PROTECTION EST INVERSEMENT PROPORTIONNEL À LA LONGUEUR DU PARCOURS DE FIL.
INSTALLATION :
1. AVERTISSEMENT : POUR ÉVITER LES RISQUES D’INCENDIE, DE CHOC
ÉLECTRIQUE OU DE BLESSURE MORTELLE, COUPER LE COURANT AU
FUSIBLE OU AU DISJONCTEUR ET S’ASSURER QUE LE CIRCUIT SOIT BIEN
COUPÉ AVANT DE PROCÉDER À L’INSTALLATION.
2. Dénuder chacun des conducteurs afin d’exposer 2,5 cm de fil de cuivre à chaque
extrémité; garder les fils bien tendus.
3. Raccorder les fils de la façon suivante : le conducteur NOIR à la vis LAITON, le
conducteur BLANC à la vis ARGENT, et le fil VERT À la vis hexagonal VERT; le
cas échéant, torsader le fil de M.A.L.T. qui peut être fourni entre la vis VERT et
la boîte murale; insérer le conducteur dans l’orifice d’ancrage et enrouler vers la
gauche sur la borne à vis.
4. Serrer les bornes à vis vers la droite.
5. Fixer le adaptateur (consulter les Directives D’installation du type d’application
approprié).
6. Rétablir le courant au fusible ou au disjoncteur. L’INSTALLATION EST TERMINÉE.
INSTALLATION DANS UNE BOÎTE PORTATIVE
N’UTILISER QU DU CORDON FLEXIBLE POUR CETTE APPLICATION; NE JAMAIS UTILISER DE CONDUCTEUR DE M.A.L.T. NON
ISOLÉ; CELA POURRAIT CAUSER UNE FUITE À LA TERRE; LES CONFIGURATIONS AVEC BOÎTE PORTATIVE NE SONT PAS
HOMOLOGUÉES UL.
1. Pour installer en saillie, retirer les déboucheras à l’arrière de la boîte à la surface au moyen de vis 6 (non comprises) en s’assurant que
l’orifice de sortie du cordon est orienté correctement.
2. Retirer du cordon environ 15 cm de gaine; s’assurer de ne pas l’endommager; cela pourrait
causer un court-circuit ou une fuite de courant, endommager l’équipement ou causer des
blessures; dénuder chacun des conducteurs d’environ 2,5 cm.
3. Faire passer le cordon dans l’orifice de sortie de la boîte, en le plaçant sous le brides.
4. Raccorder les fils de la façon suivante : le conducteur NOIR à la vis LAITON, le conducteur
BLANC à la vis ARGENT, et le conducteur VERT à la vis hexagonale VERT; s’assurer qu’aucun
brin ne soit exposé.
5. Serrer chaque bride noire dans les fentes au-dessus de chaque orifice de sortie; fixer au moyen
de vis; s’assurer que chaque cordon soit solidement maintenu.
6. Fixer le adaptateur au moyen des quatre longues vis 8-32 de 2,5 cm comprises.
