Fire Rated Back Box for 6.5 Inch Ceiling Speaker
APPLICATION
Leviton’s fire-rated back box is designed to be
used with Leviton’s 6.5 inch ceiling speakers.
The back box is mounted in the ceiling prior to
drywall installation. Primary application is in
multiple dwelling and commercial properties,
however single-family residential applications are
supported.
SPECIFICATION
The fire-rated back box shall provide an enclosure
for Leviton’s 6.5 inch ceiling speakers. It shall meet
one-hour fire-rating specifications and shall be
tested to meet ASTM E119, NFPA 251, UL 263, UL
2043, ULC CAN/ULC-S101, and UBC 7-1 standards.
FEATURES
• Can be mounted in suspended ceilings
• Includes conduit set-screw connector for
conduit installations
DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS
• To provide sucient finish depth for
loudspeakers, drywall must be 0.5”
(12.7 mm) or thicker
• Ceiling joists must be a minimum of 2” x 6”
• (50.8 mm x 152.4 mm)

• Meets one-hour fire rating requirement
per the following standards:
