Key Card Switch
Cat. No. HKSWP-0LX
INSTALLATION
English
WARNINGS AND CAUTIONS:
DISCONNECT POWER AT CIRCUIT BREAKER OR FUSE WHEN SERVICING, INSTALLING OR REMOVING FIXTURE.
TO BE INSTALLED AND/OR USED IN ACCORDANCE WITH ELECTRICAL CODES AND REGULATIONS.
IF YOU ARE NOT SURE ABOUT ANY PART OF THESE INSTRUCTIONS, CONSULT AN ELECTRICIAN.
DESCRIPTION:
These Key Card Switches are low voltage devices which switch power ON and OFF according to whether a key card (similar to those used in hotels) is
inserted in the card slot on the device. The devices are wired to either a building control system or a Leviton Power Pack. When a key card is inserted in the
slot, an optical beam is interrupted by the card, signaling the circuitry to switch the relay ON. When the card is removed, the optical beam is restored, and a
countdown timer is initiated. After approximately 30 seconds, the timer expires and the relay is switched OFF. This delay ensures that a user can safely exit a
room prior to the lights turning OFF.
To assist in locating the switch when the user enters a dark room, the card
slot is illuminated by low energy LEDs. When a card is inserted in the slot,
the LEDs are switched OFF
INSTALLATION:
1. Make sure power has been turned OFF at the circuit breaker.
2. Remove the pre-stripped insulation from the wires to expose the copper
wire.
3. Using a Leviton Power Pack or the Building Control System wiring,
connect the devices following the wiring diagrams provided:
Connect the RLY COMM to the wire terminal
Connect the N.O. wire to the wire terminal (used for Power Packs or
when normally open relay is desired)
Connect the N.C. wire to the wire terminal (used for BAS or when
normally closed relay is desired)
Connect the red 24V power wire to either AC/DC wire terminal
Connect the black COMM wire to either AC/DC wire terminal
Connect one blue LOAD wire to the load switches and outlets to be
controlled in the room.
Connect the white NEUTRAL wire from the building wiring to the
white wire on the power pack.
Connect the black HOT/LINE wire from the building wiring to one
black and one blue wire on the power pack
4. Install the device in the wall box and secure it to the wall box with the
screws provided.
5. Attach the cover plate.
6. Restore power to the circuit.
Low Voltage Relay Rating:

Power-Up Time/ Warm-Up time:
0LX = up to 5 seconds max
Environmental:
Ambient operating temperature: 32 -131 °F (0-55°C)
Maximum 95% non-condensing relative humidity
Storage Temperature: -32 to 158°F (0 to 70°C)
Indoor use only
Terminal blocks
AC/DC Inputs: (+) 24V, (-) COM
AC/DC Outputs : NO – Normally Open, NC – Normally Closed, COM
Will accommodate single conductor #18 - #26 AWG
Torque terminals to 4in lbs.
The Card Key switch assembly slot accepts standard size card keys – 3.375 " W x 2 .125" H, .034” thick.
OPERATION:
When power is applied to these devices, they are immediately ready for operation according to the card status. If the card is inserted, the relay will turn ON. If the
card is not present, the relay will remain OFF. Once the relay is ON and the card is removed, there is a 30 second time-out delay before the relay turns OFF.
