3. IR Receiver & LEDs

Receives infrared commands from the MC-4 remote control.

There are three LEDs located in this area as shown below. The

amber LED blinks when a remote control command is

received. The red LED lights when the A/D converters are

overloading. The blue LED lights when the MC-4 is powered

on and activated—even if the FRONT PANEL DISPLAY menu

STATUS parameter is ALWAYS OFF.

5. Mode  &  Buttons

Scroll to the previous and next available listening mode.

Scrolling occurs in the order shown on the MODE ADJUST

menu. Pressing the Mode  button scrolls upward through

available listening modes and pressing the Mode  button

scrolls downward through available listening modes. See

“Listening Mode Activation” on page 5-2 for more informa-

tion.

6. Mute Button

Mutes MC-4 volume level and restores MC-4 volume to its

original level. Pressing the mute button the first time lowers

volume level. The message MUTE ON displays on the

on-screen and front panel displays. Pressing the mute button

again restores MC-4 volume to its original level. See “Volume

Control Setup” on page 3-51 for information about using the

MUTE LEVEL parameter to set mute levels.

The amber mute button LED lights whenever mute is activated,

whether activated automatically or manually. For instance, the

MC-4 briefly activates mute when changing input sources or

listening modes.

7. Input Selection Buttons

Select the MC-4 input. The blue input selection button LEDs

light whenever the corresponding input is selected.

4. Volume Knob

Adjusts volume level. Rotate the volume

knob clockwise to increase or counterclockwise to decrease

volume level in 1dB increments. The horizontal bar graph

shown here appears in the on-screen and front panel displays.

This graph illustrates the position at which the current volume

level falls within the –80 to +12dB volume range.

Note:

When MC-4 output levels have been properly

calibrated, the +0dB volume level setting corresponds

to THX reference levels (75dB).
