Your Lexie hearing aid should enable you to manage better in a
variety of listening situations. The hearing aid will amplify sounds
you have not heard properly in a long time. Everybody’s experience
and response to their hearing aid is different. Your experience with
your hearing aid will be affected by the cause, severity and the pitch
of your hearing loss.
The quickest way to adapt to your new hearing aid is to practice
listening with your hearing aid as much as you are able to until you
can wear it comfortably, all day. A hearing aid will not necessarily
make sounds perfectly clear and you may still find it difficult
to follow what people are saying in noisy places, like shops and
restaurants, over a distance or in groups.
In the rst four weeks of wearing your hearing aid, voices and the
television may be clearer than what they were before. Background
noise and unfamiliar sounds may seem too loud. You may hear the
internal workings of your hearing aid and your own voice may also
sound quite loud and hollow. This is normal and most new hearing
aid users experience this.
