hearing aid may seem softer in volume. After about eight weeks,
your hearing aid should sound more comfortable and be loud
enough in most situations. However, you might begin to find that
you want the volume of your hearing aid to be increased. Remember
that a hearing aid makes sounds louder. Clarity comes with the ability
of your ear to fine tune sound. A hearing aid may help with clarity but
it cannot improve clarity in all cases. Below are a few tips to help you
adjust to your new hearing aid:
Tell people about your hearing loss. Ask them to slow down and
to speak as clearly as possible.
Ask people to get your attention before speaking.
Ask specific questions about things you did not hear properly.
Ask people to repeat the words you missed or to rephrase what
they said, if necessary.
In noisy environments, adjust the settings of your hearing aid for
more comfortable listening.
When attending meetings, church gatherings or social events, try
to arrive as early as possible so that you can sit in the front of the
room, closest to the speaker.
