Ask the person you are talking to, to stand in good lighting.
Try to stand about 3-5 feet away from the person you are talking
to. Sound travels better over a shorter distance and you will be
able to see his/her face better.
Don’t try to speak to someone who is not in the same room as
you. Rather move to the other room or have the speaker come to
you.
When having a conversation, try to minimize or remove any
background noise such as the television or radio.
Remember to be calm and to not panic. Even people with
normal hearing find it difficult to hear in some situations.
