This indicates a product feature that is capable of playing DVD-RW discs recorded with Video Recording format.
Disc-related terms DVD ±R / DVD ±RW DVD -R and DVD +R are two different standards for recordable DVD drives and discs. This format allows information to be recorded onto the DVD disc only once. DVD +RW and DVD -RW are two standards for re-writable media, meaning the DVD content can be erased and re-recorded. Single-sided discs can hold 4.38 Gigabytes and double-sided discs hold twice as much. There are no dual layer single sided recordable discs.

Remote Control OPEN / CLOSE Opens and closes the disc tray. TV Control Buttons Introduction TV POWER: Turns the TV on or off. POWER Switches DVD Player ON and OFF. TV PR/CH +/–: Selects TV’s channel. 0-9 number buttons Selects numbered items in a menu. TV VOL +/–: Adjusts TV’s volume. CLEAR Removes a track number on the program list or a mark on the MARKER SEARCH menu. AV: Selects the TV’s source. SKIP (. / >) Go to next chapter or track.
Installation and Setup Setting up the Player The picture and sound of a nearby TV, VCR, or radio may be distorted during playback. If this occurs, position the player away from the TV, VCR, or radio, or turn off the unit after removing the disc. DVD Player Connections Depending on your TV and other equipment there are various ways you can connect the player. Please refer to the manuals of your TV, stereo system or other devices as necessary for additional connection information.
HDMI connection HDMI compatible TV HDMI If you have a HDMI TV or monitor, you can connect it to this player using a HDMI cable. 1. Connect the HDMI OUT jack on the player to the HDMI jack on a HDMI compatible TV or monitor (H). H 3. In stop mode, select HDMI mode by pressing HDMI on the front panel. Lights green when the HDMI is turned on. Press RESOLUTION repeatedly to select the resolution you wish to change to then press PLAY. The DVD disc must not be playing in order to set the resolution.
Audio Connection to Optional Equipment Connect the DVD player to your optional equipment for audio output. DivX(R) VOD DivX You can display the DivX DRM (Digital Rights Management) Registration code for your unit. Installation and Setup The Registration code is used for VOD (Video-OnDemand) service agent. You can purchase or rent an encrypt movie file. Notes: If you rent the DivX VOD file, it has several options of viewing limits as shown below. • Display the number which you can watch the file. • The rental has been expired. • Display the authorization error.

Operation Playing a DVD or Video CD General Features Playback Setup Notes: Unless stated otherwise, all operations described use the Remote Control. Some features may also be available on the Setup menu. 1. Turn on the TV and select the video input source connected to the DVD Player. 2. Turn on the Audio System (if applicable) and select the input source connected to the DVD player. 3. Press OPEN/CLOSE to open the disc tray and load your chosen disc in the tray, with the playback side down. 4.
Still Picture and Frame-by-Frame Playback DVD-V DVD-A VCD DivX 1. Press PAUSE/STEP on the remote control during playback. Advance the picture frame-by-frame by pressing PAUSE/STEP repeatedly. 2. To exit still motion mode, press PLAY. Note: When using a DVD audio disc that includes pictures, this operation may be permitted in some picture segments. DVD-V Slow Motion DVD-A VCD DivX 1. Press PAUSE/STEP (X) during playback. The DVD player will now go into PAUSE mode. 2.
DVD-V DVD-A VCD DivX Use zoom to enlarge the video image. 1. Press ZOOM during playback or still playback to activate the Zoom function. The square frame appears briefly in the right bottom of the picture. 2. Each press of the ZOOM button changes the TV screen in the sequence: 100% size → 400% size → 1600% size → screen fit mode → 100% size Screen fit mode: You can change the way the image appears on the screen when you’re playing a DVD movie. 4 to select between Normal, Enhanced, Press 3/4 and Maximum.
DVD Audio Discs Moving to another GROUP DVD Audio is a new disc format building on the success of DVD to provide high quality, uncompressed, multi-channel audio for a new experience in audio quality. A DVD Audio disc can be identified by the DVD audio logo on the disc jacket or on the disc itself. Some DVD Audio discs divide content into different groups. Your player enables you to quickly access different groups during playback via the on-screen display.
Cards capable of displaying M/C You can play Photo, Music, and MOVIE files in Memory Cards with this DVD player. 1. Insert a Memory Card until it fits into place. 2. Press MEMORY CARD on the front panel. The Memory Card slot choice menu appears on the TV screen. 1 2 Note: If both slots are connected with Memory Card, use b / B to select the desired Memory Card slot. 3. Press ENTER. The menu appears.
Playing an Audio CD or MP3/WMA Disc The DVD player can play MP3/WMA formatted recordings on CD-ROM, CD-R, or CD-RW discs. Audio CD Once you insert an audio CD a menu appears on the TV screen. Press v / V to select a track then press PLAY or ENTER and playback starts. Audio CD and MP3 / WMA Disc Features CD MP3 M/C WMA 1. Press PAUSE/STEP during playback. 2. To return to playback, press PLAY, ENTER or press PAUSE/STEP again. MP3 WMA MP3 WMA M/C 1. Press RANDOM during playback. Random Playback begins immediately and RANDOM appears on the menu screen. 2. To return to normal playback, press RANDOM repeatedly until RANDOM disappears from the menu screen. Tip: By pressing SKIP > during random playback, the unit selects another track and resumes random playback.
Programmed Playback The program function enables you to store your favorite tracks from any disc in the player memory. A program can contain 30 tracks. 1. Insert a disc. Audio CD or MP3/WMA Discs: AUDIO CD or MUSIC menu appears. 2. Press PROGRAM. The E mark will appear to the right of the word “Program” on the right side of the menu screen. Note: Press PROGRAM again, then the E mark will disappear to exit the Program Edit mode.
Viewing a JPEG Disc Zoom Using this DVD Player you can view Kodak PICTURE CDs and discs with JPEG files. Use Zoom to enlarge the photo image. (see 21 page) 1. Insert a disc and close the tray. Playing a DVD VR format Disc Maintenance and Service This unit will play DVD-R/RW discs recorded using the DVD-Video format that have been finalized using a DVD-Recorder. Refer to the information in this chapter before contacting a service technician. • This unit will play DVD-RW discs recorded using the Video Recording (VR) format. 1. Insert a disc and close the tray. The DVD-VR menu appears on the TV screen.
Playing a DivX Movie Disc Using this DVD Player you can play DivX disc. 1. Insert a disc and close the tray. The MOVIE menu appears on the TV screen. MOVIE DivX disc compatibility with this player is limited as follows: • Available resolution size of the DivX file is under 720x576 (W x H) pixel. • The file name of the DivX subtitle is limited to characters.
Additional Features Video Mode Setting Last Scene Memory • With certain discs, the playback picture may be DVD-V DVD-A CD VCD1.1 This player memorizes last scene from the last disc that is viewed. The last scene remains in memory even if you remove the disc from the player or switch off the player. If you load a disc that has the scene memorized, the scene is automatically recalled.
Reference Speaker Setup If you have connected the system to a speaker without a low frequency of 100Hz or below, select “Small.” If you have not connected a subwoofer, always select “Large” for Front speaker (L/R). Make the following settings for the built-in 5.1 channel surround decoder. When you do not have a certain speaker connected, select “None.” This chapter includes important reference information to help you set your DVD player. Front L/R speaker’s size can be set to “Large” or “Small.
Controlling Your TV with the Supplied Remote You can control the sound level, input source, and power switch of your LG TV with the supplied remote. Code numbers of controllable TVs You can control your TV using the buttons below.
