Connecting ,,Note yy If a connected HDMI device does not accept the audio output of the player, the HDMI device’s audio sound may be distorted or may not output. yy When you use HDMI connection, you can change the resolution for the HDMI output. Connecting 19 Component Video Connection Video Connection Connect the COMPONENT VIDEO OUT jacks on the player to the corresponding input jacks on the TV using component video cable. You can hear the sound the through the system’s speaker. Connect the VIDEO OUT jack on the player to the video in jack on the TV using a video cable. You can hear the sound through the system’s speakers.
Connecting Resolution Setting The player provides several output resolutions for HDMI OUT and COMPONENT VIDEO OUT jacks. You can change the resolution using [Setup] menu. Antenna connection Connect the supplied antenna for listening to the radio. 1. Press HOME (n). 2. Use A/D to select the [Setup] and press ENTER (b). The [Setup] menu appears. 2 3. Connecting Connections with external device AUX Connection You can enjoy the sound from an external component through the speakers of this system. PORT. IN connection You can enjoy the sound from your portable audio player through the speakers of this system. Connect the headphones (or line out ) jack of the portable audio player into the PORT. IN socket of this unit. And then select the [PORTABLE] option by pressing RADIO&INPUT and ENTER (b).
Connecting 2 OPTICAL IN connection HDMI IN connection You can enjoy the sound from your component with a digital optical connection through the speakers of this system. You can enjoy the pictures and sound from your component through this connection. Connect the optical output jack of your component into the OPTICAL IN jack on the unit. And then select the [OPTICAL] option by pressing RADIO&INPUT and ENTER (b). Or press OPTICAL to select directly.
Connecting 23 Connecting to your Home Network This player can be connected to a local area network (LAN) via the LAN port on the rear panel. By connecting the unit to a broadband home network, you have access to services such as software updates, BD-Live interactivity and on-line content services. Broadband service 2 Router Using a wired network provides the best performance, because the attached devices connect directly to the network and are not subject to radio frequency interference.
Connecting Wired Network Setup If there is a DHCP server on the local area network (LAN) via wired connection, this player will automatically be allocated an IP address. After making the physical connection, a small number of home networks may require the player’s network setting to be adjusted. Adjust the [NETWORK] setting as follow. 2 Preparation Connecting Before setting the wired network, you need to connect the broadband internet to your home network. 1.
Connecting 25 Wireless Network Connection Another connection option is to use an Access Point or a wireless router. The network configuration and connection method may vary depending on the equipment in use and the network environment. You can enjoy the on-line contents by using supplied Wireless LAN Adapter without Internet LAN cable. yy If you do chose to use the wireless option, note that performance can sometimes be affected by other electronic devices in the home.
Connecting Wireless Network Setup For the wireless network connection, the player needs to be set up for network communication. This adjustment can be done from the [Setup] menu. Adjust the [NETWORK] setting as follow. Setting up the access point or the wireless router is required before connecting the player to the network. 2 Preparation Connecting Before setting the wireless network, you need to: -- connect the broadband internet to the wireless home network.
Connecting 27 Notes on Network Connection: yy Many network connection problems during set up can often be fixed by re-setting the router or modem. After connecting the player to the home network, quickly power off and/ or disconnect the power cable of the home network router or cable modem. Then power on and/or connect the power cable again.
Connecting USB device connection This player can play video, audio and photo files contained in the USB device. Playback content in the USB device 2 1. Insert a USB device to the USB port until it fits into place. ,,Note yy This player supports USB flash drive/ external HDD formatted in FAT16, FAT32 and NTFS when accessing files (audio, photo, video). However, for BD-LIVE and Audio CD recording, only FAT16 and FAT32 formats are supported.
System Setting 29 Settings [DISPLAY] Menu TV Aspect Ratio Adjust the Setup Settings You can change the settings of the player in the [Setup] menu. 1. Press HOME (n). Select a TV aspect ratio option according to your TV type. [4:3 Letter Box] Select when a standard 4:3 TV is connected. Displays theatrical images with masking bars above and below the picture. [4:3 Pan Scan] Select when a standard 4:3 TV is connected. Displays pictures cropped to fill your TV screen. Both sides of the picture are cut off.
System Setting Resolution HDMI Color Setting Sets the output resolution of the Component and HDMI video signal. Refer to page 20 and 58 for details about the resolution setting. Select the type of output from the HDMI OUT jack. For this setting, please refer to the manuals of your display device. [Auto] [YCbCr] If the HDMI OUT jack is connected to TVs providing display information (EDID), automatically selects the resolution best suited to the connected TV.
System Setting 31 [LANGUAGE] Menu [AUDIO] Menu Display Menu Speaker Setup Select a language for the [Setup] menu and onscreen display. To obtain the best possible sound, use the speaker setup display to specify the volume of the speakers you have connected and their distance from your listening position. Use the test to adjust the volume of the speakers to the same level.
System Setting HD AV Sync [LOCK] Menu Sometimes Digital TV encounters a delay between picture and sound. If this happens you can compensate by setting a delay on the sound so that it effectively ‘waits’ for the picture to arrive: this is called HD AV Sync. Use W S to scroll up and down through the delay amount, which you can set at anything between 0 and 300 ms. The [LOCK] settings affect only CinemaNow movie, Blu-ray Disc and DVD playback.
System Setting 33 DVD Rating [NETWORK] Menu Blocks playback of rated DVD based on their content. (Not all discs are rated.) The [NETWORK] settings are needed to use the software update, BD Live and on-line content services. [Rating 1-8] Rating one (1) has the most restrictions and rating eight (8) is the least restrictive. [Unlock] If you select [Unlock], parental control is not active and the disc plays in full. BD Rating Set an age limit of BD-ROM play.
System Setting Netflix [Netflix ESN] Display its unique Netflix ESN (Electronic Serial Number) that allows you to use the Netflix streaming. [Deactivate Netflix] Deactivates your player. To activate the Netflix again, contact to the service provider. Deactivate Vudu 3 You can deactivate your player from your Vudu account. It is recommended that you do this if you give your player to someone else who should not share your Vudu account.
System Setting 35 Sound Effect [User EQ]: You can adjust the sound by raising or lowering the level of specific frequency. You can select a suitable sound mode. Press SOUND EFFECT repeatedly until the desired mode appears on the front panel display or the TV screen. The displayed items for the equalizer maybe different depending on sound sources and effects. Setting the [User EQ] [Natural]: You can enjoy comfortable and natural sound.
4 Operating 36 Operating General Playback Playing a Disc ert Using [HOME] menu 1. Press B (OPEN/CLOSE), and place a disc on the disc tray. The home menu appears when you press HOME (n). Use A/D to select a category and press ENTER (b). 2. Press B (OPEN/CLOSE) to close the disc tray. For the most Audio CD, BD-ROM and DVD-ROM discs, playback starts automatically. 3. Press HOME (n). 4. Select [Movie] or [Music] using A/D, and press ENTER (b). 5.
Operating 37 Enjoying BD-LiveTM e ,,Note yy To enjoy the BD-Live feature with a wireless LAN Adapter, you must use a USB HUB device by connecting it to the USB port on the front panel. yy When you connect USB sticks to the USB HUB, the number of USB sticks should be limited to one USB flash memory excluding the wireless LAN Adapter. ,,Note yy Some BD-Live contents may be restrictively accessed in some territories by contents provider’s own decision.

If “MZ (Resume Stop)” appears on the screen briefly, press d (PLAY) to resume playback (from the scene point). If you press Z (STOP) twice or unload the disc, “Z(Complete Stop)” appears on the screen. The unit will clear the stopped point. ,,Note yy The resume point may be cleared when a button is pressed (for example; 1 (POWER), B (OPEN/CLOSE), etc).
Operating Repeating a specific portion eroty Marker Search eroy This player can repeat a portion you have selected. You can start playback from up to nine memorized points. 1. While playback, press REPEAT (h) to select [A-] at the beginning of the portion you wish to repeat. 2. Press ENTER (b) at the end of the portion. Your selected portion will be repeated continually. 3. To return to normal playback, press REPEAT (h) repeatedly to select [Off ].

The last scene remains in memory even if you remove the disc from the unit or switch off the unit. If you load a disc that has the scene memorized, the scene is automatically recalled. 1. During playback, press INFO/DISPLAY (m) to display the On-Screen display. 2. Select the [Time] option and then input the required start time in hours, minutes, and seconds from left to right. 3. Use A/D to select desired subtitle language. For example, to find a scene at 2 hours, 10 minutes, and 20 seconds, enter “21020”.

Operating 49 Enjoying the NetCast™ Entertainment Access You can use various content services via Internet with the NetCast Entertainment Access feature. 1. Check the network connection and settings (page 23-27). 2. Press HOME (n). 3. Select the [NetCast] using A/D, and press ENTER (b). 4. Select an on-line service using W/S/A/D, and press ENTER (b). yy Detailed information of each service, contact to the content provider or visit suppot link of the service.
5 Troubleshooting 50 Troubleshooting Troubleshooting General Symptom Cause & Solution The Power does not turned on. yy Plug the power cord into the wall outlet securely. The unit does not start playback. yy Insert a playable disc. (Check the disc type, color system, and regional code.) yy Place the disc with the playback side down. yy Place the disc on the disc tray correctly inside the guide. yy Clean the disc. yy Cancel the Rating function or change the rating level.
Troubleshooting 51 Picture Symptom Cause & Solution There is no picture. yy Select the appropriate video input mode on the TV so the picture from the unit appears on the TV screen. yy Connect the video connection securely. yy Check the [HDMI Color Setting] in the [Setup] menu is set to the appropriate item that conforms to your video connection. yy Your TV may not suppot the resolution you have set on the player. Change the resolution that your TV accepts.
Appendix STOP PLAY PAUSE/STEP Controlling a TV with the Supplied Remote Control You can control your TV using the buttons below. 6 Setting up the remote to control your TV You can operate your TV with the supplied remote control. If your TV is listed in the table below, set the appropriate manufacturer code. 1. While holding down 1 (TV POWER) button, and press the manufacturer code for your TV with the numerical buttons (see the table below).
Appendix 53 Network Software Update Network update notification From time to time, performance improvements and/or additional features or services may be made available to units that are connected to a broadband home network. If there is new software available and the unit is connected to a broadband home network, the player will inform you about the update as follows. Software Update You can update the player using the latest software to enhance the products operation and/or add new features.
Appendix 4. If newer version exists, the message “A new update was found. Do you want to download it?” appears. 5. Select [OK] to download the update. (Selecting [Cancel] will end the update.) 6.
