This manual provides information on the operation and maintenance of your DVD/CD Receiver. Should the unit require service, contact an authorized service location.

Installation and Setup TV Connections Make one of the following connections, depending on the capabilities of your existing equipment. Tips: Depending on your TV and other equipment you wish to connect, there are various ways you could connect the DVD/CD Receiver. Use one of the connections described below. Please refer to the manuals of your TV, VCR, Stereo System or other devices as necessary to make the best connections. Caution: Make sure the DVD/CD Receiver is connected directly to the TV.
Optional Equipment Connections Antenna Connections Connect the supplied FM/AM antenna for listening to the radio. 1. Connect a VCR to the AV IN connectors. 2. Connect the USB port of USB Memory (or MP3 player, etc.) to the USB port on the front of the unit. Connect the AM Loop antenna to the AM antenna connector. Connect the FM Wire antenna to the FM antenna connector.
Assembling and Connecting to the Speakers The speakers are detached from the speaker stands. Connect the speaker cables and assemble the front and rear speakers from speaker stands as illustrated. How to connect the Speakers 1. Connect the speaker cables to the appropriate terminal on the bottom of the round board. To change the stand 1. Open the holder cover of the speaker. 2. Remove the 2 screws in the speaker hole. 3. Remove the speaker from the stand. 4. Remove the 4 screws from the round board. 5.
1. For Front or Rear Speaker : Remove the speaker from the stand (Follow steps 1-3 of “To change the stand”). For Center Speaker : Remove the 4 screws from stand. 2. For Front or Rear Speakers :Disconnect the speaker cable from the terminal on the bottom of the round board. 3. For Front or Rear Speaker : Connect the speaker cable to the appropriate terminal on the bottom of the speaker.
HDMI Connection HDMI compatible TV If you have a HDMI TV or monitor, you can connect it to this DVD/CD Receiver using a HDMI cable. HDMI 1. Connect the HDMI OUT jack on the DVD/CD Receiver to the HDMI jack on a HDMI compatible TV or monitor (H). H 2. Set the TV’s source to HDMI (refer to TV’s Owner’s manual). 3. In stop mode, select HDMI mode by pressing HDMI. Press RESOLUTION repeatedly to select the resolution you wish to change.
LANGUAGE LANGUAGE You can display various information about the disc loaded on-screen. 1. Press DISPLAY to show various playback information. The items displayed differ depending on the disc type or playing status. 2. You can select an item by pressing v / V and change or select the setting by pressing b / B. Title (Track) – Current title (or track). number/total number of titles (or tracks). Chapter – Current chapter number/total number of chapters. Time – Elapsed playing time.
AUDIO 5.1 Speaker Setup Each DVD disc has a variety of audio output options. Set the receiver’s AUDIO options according to the type of audio system you use. AUDIO 5.1 Speaker Setup Select DRC On Vocal On HD AV Sync 0 ms Make the following settings for the built-in 5.1 channel surround decoder. 1. Press ENTER and 5.1 Speaker Setup menu appears.
Area Code LOCK (Parental Control) Enter the code of the area whose standards were used to rate the DVD video disc, based on the list on page 25. LOCK Rating Unlock Password **** Area Code US 1. Select “Area Code” on the LOCK menu then press B. 2. Follow step 2 as shown previous paragraph (Rating). Select Rating 3. Select the first character using v / V buttons. Blocks playback of rated DVDs based on their content. Not all discs are rated. 4.
Operation General features Buttons Operations Discs Z (OPEN / CLOSE) Opens or closes the disc tray. ALL X (PAUSE) During playback, press X to pause playback. ALL Press X repeatedly to play Frame-by-Frame. DVD During playback, press SKIP (. or >) to go to the next chapter/track or to return to the beginning of the current chapter/track. ALL SKIP (. / >) DivX Press SKIP . twice briefly to step back to the previous chapter/track.
Notes on general features: If you press SKIP (>) once during Repeat Chapter (Track) playback, the repeat playback cancels. Zoom may not work on some DVDs. The A-B repeat function is available only in the current track. Last Scene Memory DVD This receiver memorizes last scene from the last disc that is viewed. The last scene remains in memory even if you remove the disc from the receiver or switch off the receiver. If you load a disc that has the scene memorized, the scene is automatically recalled.
Playing an Audio CD or MP3/WMA file Programmed Playback This unit can play Audio CDs or MP3/WMA files recorded media. The program function enables you to store your favorite tracks from any disc in the receiver memory. A program can contain 300 tracks. MP3/ WMA/ Audio CD Once you insert an MP3/WMA files recorded media or Audio CD, a menu appears on the TV screen. Press v / V to select a track/file then press PLAY or ENTER and playback starts. You can use variable playback functions. Refer to page 16.
Viewing a JPEG file JPEG This unit can play discs with JPEG files. Before playing JPEG recordings, read the notes on JPEG Recordings on right. 1. Insert a disc and close the tray. The PHOTO menu appears on the TV screen. PHOTO List Preview JPEG disc compatibility with this player is limited as follows: • Depending upon the size and number of JPEG files, it could take a long time for the DVD/CD Receiver to read the disc’s contents.
Playing a DivX Movie file Using this DVD/CD Receiver you can play DivX disc. 1. Insert a disc and close the tray. The MOVIE menu appears on the TV screen. MOVIE DivX disc compatibility with this player is limited as follows: • Available resolution size of the DivX file is under 800x600 (W x H) pixel. • The file name of the DivX subtitle is available by 45 characters.
DVD Audio is a new disc format building on the success of DVD to provide high quality, uncompressed, multi-channel audio for a new experience in audio quality. A DVD Audio disc can be identified by the DVD audio logo on the disc jacket or on the disc itself. DVD Audio can provide higher quality stereo than Audio CDs with a sampling rate of up to 192kHz (compared to 44.1kHz for CDs). DVD Audio digital sound can be delivered with up to 24 bits of data (compared to 16 bits for a standard CD).
Presetting the Radio Stations Listening to the Radio You can preset 50 stations for FM and AM (MW). Before tuning, make sure that you have turned down the volume. Preset radio stations in the DVD/CD Receiver’s memory first (see “Presetting radio stations” on the left). 1. Press BAND on the Remote Control until FM or AM (MW) appears in the display window. 1. Sleep Timer Setting XTS/XTS pro You can set the DVD/CD Receiver to turn off automatically at a specified time. Each time you press XTS pro the setting changes in the following order. 1. Press SLEEP to set the desired sleep time. 2. Each time you press SLEEP the setting changes in the following order. SLEEP 180 →150 →120→90 →80 → 70 → 60→ 50 → 40 → 30 → 20 →10 →OFF XTS ON → NORMAL → XTS-P ON... Note: You can check the time remaining before the DVD/CD Receiver turns off. Press SLEEP.
Controlling Your TV with the Supplied Remote You can control the sound level, input source, and power switch of your LG TV with the supplied remote. Code numbers of controllable TVs You can control your TV using the buttons below. If more than one code number is listed, try entering them one at a time until you find the one that works with your TV. TV Control Buttons By pressing You can POWER Turn the TV on or off. CHANNEL(v / V) Scans up or down through memorized channels.
Language Codes Use this list to input your desired language for the following initial settings: Disc Audio, Disc Subtitle, Disc Menu.
Troubleshooting Check the following guide for the possible cause of a problem before contacting service. Symptom Cause No power. • The power cord is disconnected. • Plug the power cord securely into the wall outlet. The power is on, but the DVD/CD Receiver does not work. • No disc is inserted. • Insert a disc. (Check that the DVD or, audio CD indicator in the DVD display is lit.) No picture. • The TV is not set to receive DVD signal output.
The Remote Control does not work properly. The front panel display is too dim. Correction • Connect the antenna securely. • Adjust the antennas and connect an external antenna if necessary. • The signal strength of the stations is too weak (when tuning in with automatic tuning). • Tune in the station manually. • No stations have been preset or preset stations have been cleared (when tuning by scanning preset stations). • Preset the stations (page 22).
