Connecting Before connecting Please make sure to disconnect the AC power cord before making any connection between the unit and any other device. Positioning the system 2 Connecting The following illustration shows an example of positioning the system. Note that the illustrations in these instructions differ from the actual unit for explanation purposes.

2 Connecting Connecting video devices 1. Connect the HDMI IN 1/2 jack on AV Receiver System to your video device with HDMI OUT jack using HDMI cable. You can watch the input image from your video device. There are two ways of connecting your video device to AV Receiver System. 3. Set the input source to HDMI (page 23). Using an HDMI cable Connecting Since HDMI offers both audio and video signal over one cable, you can enjoy them without additional audio cable. DVD, Blu-ray disc player etc.
Connecting ,,Note yy HDMI is the abbreviated name for High Definition Multimedia Interface. It is an interface which transmits video and audio signals in digital format. If a connected HDMI device does not accept the audio output of the unit, the HDMI device’s audio sound may be distorted or may not output. 15 Resolution Setting The unit provides several display resolutions for HDMI OUT TO TV jack. You can change the resolution by using [Setup] menu. 1. Press SETUP. The [Setup] menu appears.
Connecting Using a composite video cable To enjoy both sounds and pictures from your device, you have to connect analog audio cable as well as composite video cable. Audio cable 1. Connect the VIDEO IN jack on AV Receiver System to the VIDEO OUT jack on your video device using a composite video cable. 2. Connect the left and right AUDIO IN jacks of AV Receiver System to the left and right AUDIO OUT jacks on your video device using an audio cables. 3.
Connecting Connecting audio devices 1. Connect AV IN 1, COAXIAL 1/2 or OPTICAL 1/2 jack on AV Receiver System to your audio device’s OUTPUT jack you want. You can hear the sound from your TV, DVD player, Blu-ray player, CD player, etc. It is not necessary to connect all the cables. Connect AV Receiver System to an AV IN, a COAXIAL or an OPTICAL jack on your device you want to connect. Audio cable or DVD, Blu-ray disc player etc. or TV 2.
Connecting Connecting other devices You can easily connect other devices (camcorder, game console, etc) to the jacks on the front panel of AV Receiver System. Video cable 2 1. Connect the VIDEO IN jack on the front panel of AV Receiver System to the VIDEO OUT jack on your device using a video cable. 2. Connect the left and right AUDIO IN jacks on the front of AV Receiver System to the audio left and right OUT jacks on your device using an audio cables. 3.
Connecting 19 Connecting the antenna Connecting portable devices 1. Connect the FM wire antenna to the FM antenna connector. 1. Connect the PORT. IN jack on AV Receiver System to the head phone or LINE OUT jack on your portable device (MP3 player, etc.) using a portable cable ( 3.5 mm stereo plug). 2 Connecting FM wire antenna 2. System Setting Settings Adjusting the Setup Settings You can change the settings of the unit in the [Setup] menu. 1. Press SETUP. The [Setup] menu appears. [Language] Menu Menu Language Select a language for the [Setup] menu and onscreen display. [Display] Menu TV Aspect Select which screen aspect to use based on the shape of your TV screen. System Setting Resolution [Audio] Menu Sets the output resolution of the HDMI video signal. Refer to “Resolution Setting” for details about the resolution (page 15). Speaker Setup [Auto] If the HDMI OUT jack is connected to TVs providing display information (EDID), automatically selects the resolution best suited to the connected TV. 21 Make the following settings for the built-in 2.2 channel surround speaker. 1. Adjust the volume to match the volume of test signals memorized in the system.
4 Operating Operating 23 Basic operations Selecting the input source This section explains how to select the input source (i.e., the AV component that you want to listen to or watch). Operating Adjusting the speaker levels Enjoying various sound mode You can adjust the level of each speaker. These settings are applied to all sound fields. You can adjust from -5 to +5 in 1 step. You can enjoy various sound mode. For details, refer to Setting the USER EQ, Sound effect and Bass Blast. 1. Press SPEAKER LEVEL on the remote control repeatedly to select a desired speaker to set. Operating 25 ,,Note Sound effect This system has a number of preset sound effects. You can select a suitable sound effect. Press SOUND EFFECT on the remote control repeatedly until the desired sound effect appears on the display window. yy In some of surround modes, some speakers, there’s no sound or low sound. It depends on the mode of surround and the source of audio, it is not defective.
Operating Radio Operations Presetting the Radio Stations Be sure that FM aerial is connected. Before tuning, make sure to turn down the volume. Listening to FM radio 1. Press RADIO on the remote control or turn INPUT SELECTION on the unit until FM appears on the display window. The last received station is tuned in. 2. Automatically : Press and hold TUNING -/+ for about 2 seconds until the frequency indication starts to change, then release. Scanning stops when the unit tunes in a station.
Operating 27 Playing the USB device This unit can play movie, music and photo files contained in the USB device. Basic operation 1. Connect the USB device to the USB port until it fits into the port. To stop playback MUSIC MOVIE PHOTO Press Z during playback. To pause playback MUSIC MOVIE Press M during playback. Press d to resume playback. To scan forward or backward MUSIC MOVIE Press c or v to play fast forward or fast reverse during playback.
Operating To slow down the playing speed MOVIE While the playback is paused, press v repeatedly to play various speeds of slow motion. Resume playback MUSIC MOVIE The unit records the point where you pressed the Z depending on the file. If “MZ” appears on the screen briefly, press d to resume playback (from the scene point). If you press Z twice, “Z” appears on the screen. The unit will clear the stopped point. Removing the USB device from the unit 4 1.
Operating 29 Listening to music Playing your favorite music You can play music files contained in a USB device. It enables you to listen to music by marking your favorite files. 1. Select [Music] by using A/D on the [USB] menu. 2. Press ENTER( ). The music files start playing automatically. 1. During playback, select your favorite files by using W/S. 2. Press MARKER. The [ indicator appears on the [MUSIC] menu. 3. Repeat steps 1-2. Using the [Music] menu 4. Press d or ENTER( ).
Operating Playing repeatedly or randomly During playback, press select a desired mode. Display REPEAT REPEAT repeatedly to You can play movie files contained in a USB device. 1. Select [Movie] using A/D on the [USB] menu. Description The current file will be played repeatedly. REPEAT ALL All the files will be played repeatedly. RANDOM The files will be played in random order. Off (No display) Playing a movie file 2. Select a file using W/S/A/D, and press d or ENTER ( ) to play the file.
Operating 31 Playing from selected time Movie file requirement 1. Press INFO/DISPLAY ( ) during playback. The time search box shows the elapsed playing time. Movie file compatibility with this unit is limited as follows. 2. Select the [Time] option and then input the required start time in hours, minutes, and seconds from left to right. For example, to find a scene at 2 hours, 10 minutes, and 20 seconds, enter “21020”. 3. Press ENTER ( selected time.
Operating Viewing a photo To stop a slide show You can view photo files contained in a USB device. Press Z during slide show. 1. Select [Photo] using A/D on the [USB] menu. The [PHOTO] menu appears. To pause a slide show Press M during slide show. Press d or M to re-start the slide show. To skip to the next/previous photo While viewing a photo in full screen, press A or D to go to the previous or next photo.
Operating 33 Photo file requirement Using the Sleep Timer Photo file compatibility with this unit is limited as follows : You can set the unit to turn off automatically at a specified time. Press SLEEP repeatedly. yy Max pixel in width : 2760 x 2048 pixel yy Maximum files : Under 999 The indicator changes cyclically in the display window as follows. yy Some files may not operate due to a different recording format or the condition of file.

Plug in the power cord. yy Check the condition by operating other electronic devices. yy The speaker wires are disconnected. Check the speaker connections. yy The volume is set to minimum. Adjust the volume level. No sound yy Incorrect input source is selected. Check the input source and select the correct input source. yy The mute function is activated.
