1 Getting Started Getting Started Unique Features Introduction USB Direct Recording Playable Discs Records music to your USB device. This unit plays DVD±R/RW and CD-R/RW that contains audio titles, DivX, MP3, WMA and/or JPEG files. Some DVD±RW/DVD±R or CD-RW/ CD-R cannot be played on this unit due to the recording quality or physical condition of the disc, or the characteristics of the recording device and authoring software. This unit can play only DVD discs labelled same as the rear of the unit or “ALL”. yy Most DVD discs have a globe with one or more numbers in it clearly visible on the cover. This number must match your unit’s regional code or the disc cannot play.
1 Getting Started USB device requirement DivX file requirement yy Devices which require additional program installation when you have connected it to a computer, are not supported. DivX file compatibility with this unit is limited as follows : Getting Started yy Do not extract the USB device while in operation. yy Available resolution: up to 800 x 600 (W x H) pixels. yy For a large capacity USB, it may take longer than a few minute to be searched.

DISPLAY : Accesses On-Screen Display. MENU : Accesses the menu on a DVD disc. SETUP : Accesses or removes setup menu.

Connecting Connecting to speakers 13 Antenna Connection Connect the supplied FM/ AM antenna for listening to the radio. Attaching the speakers to the unit To connect the cable to the unit, press each plastic finger pad to open the connection terminals on the unit. Insert the wire and release the finger pad. 2 Connecting Connect the black stripe of each wire to the terminals marked - (minus) and the other end to the terminals marked + (plus).
Connecting Connections to Your TV Video Connection Connect the VIDEO OUT jack on the unit to the video in jack on the TV using a video cable. Connecting Component Video Connection Connect the COMPONENT VIDEO OUT (PROGRESSIVE SCAN) jacks on the unit to the corresponding input jacks on the TV using component cables. Disc Audio/Disc Subtitle/Disc Menu Select the language you prefer for the audio track (disc audio), subtitles, and the disc menu. [Original] [4:3] Select when a standard 4:3 TV is connected. [16:9] Select when a 16:9 wide TV is connected. Refers to the original language in which the disc was recorded.
System setting 19 AUDIO LOCK (Parental Control) DRC (Dynamic Range Control) Initial Setting of the Area Code Make the sound clear when the volume is turned down (Dolby Digital only). Set to [On] for this effect. When you use this unit for the first time, you have to set the Area Code as shown below. Vocal Select [On] to mix karaoke channels into normal stereo. This function is effective for multi-channel karaoke DVDs only. 1. Select the [Lock] menu and then press D. 2. Press D.

Operating 25 Sleep Timer Setting Press SLEEP one or more times to select delay time between 10 and 180 minutes, after which the unit turn off. To cancel the sleep function, press SLEEP repeatedly until “SLEEP 10” appears, and then press SLEEP once again while “SLEEP 10” is displayed. ,,Note yy You can check the remaining time before the Unit turns off. yy Press SLEEP. Operating 27 Radio Operations Presetting the Radio Stations Be sure that both FM and AM aerials are connected. (Refer to the page 13) You can preset 50 stations for FM and AM. Operating Sound adjustment Setting the surround mode This system has a number of pre-set surround sound fields. You can select a desired sound mode by using LG EQ/EQ You can change the LG EQ/EQ using A/D arrow key while the sound effect information is displayed on. The displayed items for the equalizer maybe different depending on sound sources and effects.
Operating 29 Advanced Operations Listening to music from your external device The unit can be used to play the music from many types of external device. (Refer to the page 15) 1. Connect the external device to the AUX IN connector of the unit. 2. Turn the power on by pressing 1 (Power). 3. Troubleshooting Troubleshooting Problem No Power. No picture. Cause & Correction yy The power cord is not plugged in. Plug in the power cord. yy The TV is not set to receive the DVD signal. Select the appropriate video input mode on the TV so the picture from the unit appears on the TV screen. yy The video cables are not connected securely. Connect the video cables securely to both the TV and unit. yy Equipment connected via the audio cable is not set to receive DVD signal output.

Appendix 33 Maintenance Handling the Unit Notes on Discs Handling Discs Never stick paper or tape on the disc. When shipping the unit Storing Discs Please save the original shipping carton and packing materials. If you need to ship the unit, for maximum protection, re-pack the unit as it was originally packed at the factory. After playing, store the disc in its case. Do not expose the disc to direct sunlight or sources of heat and never leave it in a parked car exposed to direct sunlight.
