Key Description Overview The following shows key components of the phone. Overview Key Description Hash Key Also used to key lock by pressing and holding this key for a few seconds. END/PWR Key Used to end or reject a call. This key is also used as Power Key. You can power on and off by pressing and holding this key for a few seconds. Installation Getting Started 1 Installing the SIM Card Locate the SIM card socket in the back of the phone. Follow the steps below to install the SIM card. 1. Unlock the battery cover ➊ and lift it off ➋. 2. Flip the SIM holder ➌. 3. Slide the SIM card into the holder ➍. • Ensure the angled corner is positioned correctly and the contact is made. 4. Close the SIM card holder, and move the holder lock lever up.
Installation Getting Started Notice • Before installing always make sure that the phone is switched off and remove the battery. • The metal contact of the SIM card can be easily damaged by scratches. Pay special attention to the SIM card when you handle and install. Follow the instructions supplied with the SIM card. 2 Installing the Battery 1. Place the bottom end of the battery on the phone. (See the picture left for purposes of illustration.) 2. Push the battery back until you hear a “CLICK” sound.
Getting Started 3 Charging the Battery To connect the travel adapter to the phone, you must have installed the battery. 1. Insert one end of the travel charger into the bottom of the phone. 2. Connect the other end of the travel charger to an AC wall outlet. Use only the included packing charger.
Powering On Sequence Getting Started In order to get started with your phone, follow the steps. 1. Press and hold button until you hear a tone from your phone to switch on. 2. If PIN code request of your SIM card is enabled, your phone asks you to enter PIN code. Enter the PIN code, then your phone connects to a GSM network and the network name appears on the display shortly. 3. And then, your phone goes to standby mode.
Access Codes Getting Started You can use the access codes described in this section to avoid unauthorized use of your phone. The access codes (except PUK and PUK2 codes) can be changed by using [Menu 6-5-5]. See the following section. PIN 1 code (4 to 8 digits) The PIN (Personal Identification Number) code protects your SIM card against unauthorized use. The PIN code is usually supplied with the SIM card.
Write And Read Messages Getting Started Write message If you want to write the short message, you will follow the next procedure. 1. Press [Menu] 2. Select Messages in main menu by pressing [OK]. And then If you want to write a new message, select Write Message in the menu If you want to write a reply message, select Inbox in the menu If you want to modify the previous message, select Outbox in the menu, then you can edit the message by using eZi text editor or normal editor.
eZi Text Getting Started Using eZi Text The eZi Text allows the user to type easily and quickly. Simply pressing each key once for each character, you can get the words you want. Furthermore, the candidate is predicted along with other candidates that fit the letters typed thus far. So, you don't need to input entire characters to make the word. ■ How to change mode We support three kinds of edit mode. eZi mode, numeric mode and letter mode.
eZi Text Getting Started Now let's demonstrate the predictive power. The word "lunch" is 5 letters long. Text input only requires 4 key hits before the word is predicted. If at any time the user wants to input some punctuation, they need only key to input punctuation. For example, if you want to enter "you", then press key once. You can see "we". Next, press key, then you can see "you" in the text box. If the word isn't shown, press key, or search the word with and .

Messages [Menu 2] Accessing the Menu This menu in your phone includes functions related to text message, voice message, cell broadcast message, as well as setting for message. Inbox [Menu 2-1] When received a text message, your phone show and store it in the incoming message lists. It shows the symbol until you read the message. Once you enter this menu, you can see the incoming list. Scroll to the desired message by using , and select the message by to see it.
Accessing the Menu ■ Voice Call You can call back to the sender who sent the message. If you select this item, your phone will call automatically. ■ Extract numbers If the selected message has phone number, you can extract it by selecting this menu, and call or store in a phone book. Outbox [Menu 2-2] When you enter this menu, you can see the outgoing list. Scroll to the desired message by using , and press [Select] to see the message. And if you want to exit Outbox menu, press [Back].

After sending it, your phone asks whether you will store the edited message. 3.

Your messaging service may however offer you facility of converting your text message into alternative formats (Voice, Fax, Nation's paging, X.400, E-mail, ERMES) which are suitable for the equipment that will be receiving the message. Contact your service provider for availability of this function.
Messages [Menu 2] Accessing the Menu ■ Service Centre [Menu 2-4-6] In this menu, your phone asks to enter the address of your SMS center. SMS center address is needed for sending text messages. ■ Alert Type [Menu 2-4-7] The user can set how often the phone alert the user to the incoming message according to kind of messages. : One Time, Periodic, Off Cell Broadcast [Menu 2-5] Cell broadcast messages are text messages broadcasted by the network service provider to groups of GSM phone users.
Accessing the Menu ■ Receive CB [2-5-2] • ON : If you select this menu, your phone will receive the Cell Broadcast message. • OFF : If you select this menu, your phone will not receive the Cell Broadcast message any more. ■ Language [2-5-3] You can select languages in this menu. Then your phone will receive the cell broadcast messages written in the language. In this menu, you can see the list of language which you selected already.(ex- English, French, ...) A.
Messages [Menu 2] Accessing the Menu Templates [Menu 2-6] It's for pre-defined message. You can add one of the template list to your message. Voice Mail [Menu 2-7] The handset is capable of dealing with voicemail if this feature is supported by the network service provider. When new voicemail arrives, the network sends the handset a text message to inform it of the waiting voicemail.
Accessing the Menu You can manually set the voicemail alert SMS message to match that sent by the network when a new voicemail is received, if it is not already set. To do this turn voicemail on, ring your handset and leave yourself a voicemail message. The next text message to arrive will be the network's alert to the handset that voicemail is waiting. Copy down this message, then go to the Message/Voicemail/Alert match menu option, enter the message and save it.
Call Log [Menu 3] (SIM dependent) Accessing the Menu Outgoing Calls [Menu 3-1] This menu shows recently dialed numbers up to 20. You can call by this number, also save and edit it in this menu. Incoming Calls [Menu 3-2] This menu shows recently received numbers up to 10. You can call by this number, also save and edit it in this menu. Missed Calls [Menu 3-3] This menu shows recently missed numbers up to 10. You can call by this number, also save and edit it.
Accessing the Menu ■ Call Cost [Menu 3-4-2] This network service allows you to check the costs of your last call ,all calls, remaining and reset the costs. To reset the cost you need the PIN2 code. See 'Access Code'. The Costs are shown for each SIM card independently in terms of the unit set within [Menu 3-4-2] Note • The actual cost invoiced for calls by your service provider may vary, depending upon network features, rounding-off for billing, taxes and so forth. 1. Call Log [Menu 3] (SIM dependent) Accessing the Menu • Charge Limit [Menu 3-4-3-2] This network services allows you to limit the costs of your calls to a selected number of charging units. If you have selected Read, the number of remaining units is shown when the display is clear. If you have selected "Change", you can change your charge limit. When all units have been used, no calls can be made except emergency calls.
Call Divert [Menu 4] Accessing the Menu (network and subscription dependent) The Call divert service diverts incoming voice calls, fax calls, and/or data calls to another number. 1. Press [Menu] in a standby mode. 2. Press for direct access or Use and to enter Divert. • All Calls [4-1] : Divert voice calls unconditionally • If Busy [4-2] : Divert voice calls when the phone is busy • If Not Reachable [4-3] : Divert voice calls when the network cannot reach you.
Profile [Menu 5] Accessing the Menu In this Menu, You can select a group of settings to adjust a variety of environments. (e.g. when you are in outdoor, you can choose the outdoor profile, Etc) Environments are Normal, Silent, Outdoor, Meeting, Empty, Handset, and Car. A group of settings are Alert, Key Tone, Ring volume. Normal/Silent/Outdoor/meeting/Empty/Handset/car • Activate You can adjust the profile as Normal if you are in Normal environment.
Settings [Menu 6] Accessing the Menu Alarm Clock [Menu 6-1] Your phone can raise the alarm. And you can set only one alarm in this menu. The setting is made by the same method as used in time setting. ■ Set Alarm [6-1-1] You can set alarm which your phone will raise.(Hour and minute) 1. Select Alarm Clock - Set Alarm. 2. Set the time your phone will raise the alarm. The way to edit time is identical to Set Alarm. 3. Then your phone raises alarm every day until you will cancel in following Cancel Alarm. 4.
Settings [Menu 6] Accessing the Menu Date & Time [Menu 6-2] ■ Date [Menu 6-2-1] • Set Date : In this menu, you can set the date of your phone.(year, month, date) (The way to edit the number is identical to "Clock Setting") • Clock Date Form : you can set the date format in this menu. (YYYY/MM/DD ) or (DD/MM/YYYY) or (MM/DD/YYYY) ■ Time [Menu 6-2-2] The phone has its own clock. In this menu you can set the time and select between the 12-hour or 24-hour time formats.
Accessing the Menu Phone Settings [Menu 6-3] ■ Audio [6-3-1] • Alert Type[Menu 6-3-1-1] This setting defines how the phone will notify you about an incoming voice call.(by Ring, Vibrate, Vibrate & Ring, or Silent) Once you select this menu, the following procedure is possible. 1. If network supports "Two line service", the following submenu will be shown. Otherwise your phone will not show the submenu and jumping to next procedure.
Settings [Menu 6] Accessing the Menu ■ Display [6-3-2] • Welcome Animation [Menu 6-3-2-1] This menu allows you to set the message which is shown briefly when the phone is switched on. 1. Select Settings-Phone Settings-Display. 2. Then following menu will be displayed • Text : Your own text can be displayed. If you select this item, your phone asks you to edit the message. When you switch on your phone, the text will be displayed.
Accessing the Menu Call Setting [Menu 6-4] ■ Dtmf Tone [Menu 6-4-1] When turned on, the DTMF Tones option on the handset menu allows the handset to communicate with automated switchboards, as automated switchboards do not recognize standard GSM signals. To automatically dial a DTMF tone each time you dial a number you need to enter a pause (a long press of the key) between the number and the DTMF tones. To turn DTMF tones on, select Settings/call setting/DTMF tones/On.

If you select mode, you can receive data, fax, or fax with voice each mode. Note • Single numbering service means that the number of fax or data service is identical with the number of voice service. And, these modes depend on network feature.

Security [Menu 6-5] ■ PIN Enable [Menu 6-5-1] Within this menu, you can set the phone to ask for the PIN code of your SIM card when the phone is switched on. Following menu will be displayed • Enable : Enable PIN code request. • Disable : Disable PIN code request.

Accessing the Menu ■ Fixed Dial Number [Menu 6-5-3] You can call by the phone number belonged to Fixed Dial Number. If you enter this menu, your phone requests entering PIN2 code. 1. Key your original PIN2 code and press [OK]. If keyed PIN2 code is correct, following menu will be displayed. • Enable : Providing the function for you of restricting your outgoing calls to selected phone numbers, if this is supported by your SIM card.
Settings [Menu 6] Accessing the Menu Network [Menu 6-6] You can select the network which you will be registered either automatically or manually. Normally the selection of the network used by the handset is automatic. ■ Automatic [Menu 6-6-1]: The phone automatically selects network which is available in the your area. If you press [SELECT], you will see what the outcome of the select request is.
Accessing the Menu Factory Reset [Menu 6-7] You handset can be returned to its default configuration (as it was originally supplied) by selecting the Settings/Factory Reset option, and then confirming this selection. Pressing the [END] key will exit from this option without affecting the settings.
Scheduler [Menu 7] Accessing the Menu When you enter this menu a Calendar will show up. On top of the screen there are sections for date and icons. You can change the day, month and year by using and and numeric keys. Whenever you change the date, the calendar will be updated according to the date. And square cursor will be located on the day. If you see under bar on the calendar, it means that there is a schedule that day.

Pressing [Option] allows access to the same menu as in 'View day'. To be able to data or fax service, you need the communicate software such as a data or a fax program. Before using these functions, you need to connect your phone to a computer or make sure that your phone is in connection with a compatible device.

Internet(WWW) [Menu 9] Accessing the Menu You can surf the Internet and get the latest information. This information is made available in a special format (WAP) adapted to the display options available in the phone. Internet access may required registration with your Service Provider. Home [Menu 9-1] Return to homepage. The homepage may be the site which is defined in activated profile. It will be defined by Service Provider if you don't make in activated profile.
Internet(WWW) [Menu 9] Accessing the Menu Profiles [Menu 9-3] Display or enter your own profile settings for the Internet connection. You can make up to 5 profiles and activate only one out of them.
Accessing the Menu Note • If Update images is set to Yes then the time taken for the image to appear will depend on the gateway and the speed of the connection. • Connection type [Menu 9-3-2-3] The options for connection type are Temporary or Continuous and depend on the gateway you are using. Temporary : a non-confirmed (connectionless) service. Continuous : a confirmed delivery mechanism but generates more network traffic.
Internet(WWW) [Menu 9] Accessing the Menu • Gateway setting* [Menu 9-3-2-5] Most WAP gateways do not require a User ID and Password. If your gateway does t hen these should be provided by your network, and must be set up before attempting to browse WAP sites. • Bearer* [Menu 9-3-2-6] You must select the bearer service provided by your WAP gateway which will be either Data or SMS or GPRS.
Accessing the Menu - SMS setting : The service settings below are only available when SMS has been selected as a bearer service. Sever number* : This is the telephone number of the SMS Service Center and should be provided by your network. Sevice Number* : This is the telephone number to dial to access your WAP gateway and should be provided by your network. - GPRS setting : The service settings below are only available when GPRS has been selected as a bearer service.
Internet(WWW) [Menu 9] Accessing the Menu ■ Rename [Menu 9-3-3] Edit the Profile Name Cache [Menu 9-4] You can remove the contents of Cache memory or change the Cache mode ■ Empty cache[Menu 9-4-1] The contents of Cache memory will be removed. ■ Cache mode [Menu 9-4-2] You can change the Cache check time • Always check [Menu 9-4-2-1] The cache is always checked every time a load URL or URL navigation is performed. This should be set for normal operation.

How to Use Data and Fax call Additional Functions To be able to data or fax service, you need the communicate software such as a data or a fax program. Before using these functions, you need to connect your phone to a computer or make sure that your phone is in connection with a compatible device. Sending Data or Fax Calls 1. Connect your computer to the phone. 2. After starting the communicate software, make a call and transmit a data or fax. 3.
Additional Functions ■ Receiving Data or Fax Calls - Single number If you have a SIM card that does not support separate voice, data and fax numbers, the phone does not recognize the type of incoming call. To use a data or a fax service, make sure that you want to receive a data or fax call mode. You first have to set the phone to one of these options in the call mode (Settings ➝ call setting ➝ call mode) sub menu. • To receive a data or fax call 1. Press [Menu] in a standby mode. 2.
Voice Memo Additional Functions Voice Memo 1. To use this function, press in a standby [Voice Key] for a long time during a call or 2. Recording is started and display will show the message Recording and the recording time until now. 3. If you want to finish recording, press the [Voice Key] shortly. Voice Memo Menu The phone shows voice memo information which includes the recording time and date by pressing [Voice Key] for a short time.
