Sound
Mode
You
can
enjoy
surround
sound
simply
by
selecting
one
of
the
pre-programmed
sound
fields
according
to
the
program
you
want
to
listen
to.
Press
SURR.
repeatedly
until
the
sound
mode
you
want
appears
in
the
display
window
as
below.
Each
time
you
press
SURR.,
the
sound
mode
is
changed
in
the
following
order;
PRO
LOGIC
→
HALL
1
→
HALL
2
→
THEATER
...
When
PCM
indicator
is
only displayed
in
the
display
window:
Each
time
you
press
button,
the
sound
mode

You
can
identify

encoding
format
of
program
software
by
looking
at
its
packaging.

Digital
discs
are
labeled
with
the
logo.

encoded
programs
are
labeled
with
the

are
marked
with

When
you
play
sound
tracks
with
96kHz
sampling
frequen-
cy,
the
output
signals
will
be
converted
to
48kHz
(sampling
frequency).
Sound
Mode
is
not
applicable
when
headphone
is
used.
During
a
listening
session
you
may
wish
to
adjust
the
BASS
and
TREBLE
to
suit
your
listening
tastes.

the
remote
control.
The
word
TONE
will
appear
in
the
Display
Window.

select
the
BASS
or
TREBLE
mode.

adjust
the
level

the
audio.

adjust

When
playing
the
Dolby
Digital
Source
in
Surround
mode
(Dolby
digital,
Dolby
Pro
LogicII
movie,
Dolby
Pro
LogicII
music

Pro
LogicII
matrix)
you
can
turn
down
the
audio
volume,
by
adjusting
the
dynamic
range
of
the
playback
signal
for
the
balanced
sound.

remote
control.
The
DRANGE
ON
indicator
appears
for
three
seconds
in
the
Display
window.

once
again.
The
DRANGE
OFF
indicator
appears
for
three
seconds

the
Display

You
can
use
VCRs
or
other
units
connected
to
the
VIDEO1,
VIDEO2,
DVD,
TV,
COAXIAL
connectors

OPTICAL
connec-
tor.

unit

To
utilize
the
Dolby
Digital
mode
you
must
have
a
digital
source
properly
connected
to
this
unit.
Connect
the
digital
outputs
from
DVD
and
HDTV
receivers
to
the
OPTICAL
or
COAXIAL
inputs
on
the
rear
panel.
In
order
to
provide
a
backup
signal
and
a
source
for
analog
stereo
recoding,
the
analog
outputs
provided
on
digital
source
equipment
should
also
be
connected
to
their
appropriate
inputs
on
the
rear
panel
of
the
unit.
When
playing
a
digital
source
such
as
DVD,
first
select
its
analog
input
(DVD)
using
the
remote
control
or
front-
panel
controls
to
feed
its
video
signal
to
the
TV
monitor
and
to
provide
its
analog
audio
signal
for
recording.
Next,
select
the
digital
input
connected
with
the
DVD
player
by
pressing
INPUT
on
the
remote
control
to
choose
either
of
the
OPTICAL
or
COAXIAL
inputs,
as
they
appear
in
the
Display
Window.

The
Optical
input
function
is
available
only
when
the
other
unit's
Sampling
Frequency
is
32
~
48kHz.
