Connecting Attaching the speakers to the unit 2 Connecting 1. Connect the wires to the unit. Match each wire’s colored band to the same colored connection terminal on the rear of the unit. Connecting 13 Positioning the system Front and Surround (Rear) speaker with built in subwoofer (L) The following illustration shows an example of positioning the system. Note that the illustrations in these instructions differ from the actual unit for explanation purposes. Connecting How to Affix the Ferrite Core Ferrite core may not be provided depending on each nation’s regulations. Affix the Ferrite Core for HDMI cable 2 HDMI Out Connection If you have a HDMI TV or monitor, you can connect it to this unit using a HDMI cable (Type A, High Speed HDMI™ Cable). Connect the HDMI OUT jack on the unit to the HDMI IN jack on a HDMI compatible TV or monitor. Set the TV’s source to HDMI (refer to TV’s Owner’s manual).
Connecting 15 ,,Note yy If a connected HDMI device does not accept the audio output of the unit, the HDMI device’s audio sound may be distorted or may not output. yy When you connect a HDMI or DVI compatible device make sure of the following: ,,Note yy Depending on the disc type or playing status, some SIMPLINK operation may differ from your purpose or not work.
Connecting Resolution Setting The unit provides several output resolutions for HDMI OUT. You can change the resolution using [Setup] menu. 1. Press n. 2. Use A/D to select the [Setup] and press b ENTER. The [Setup] menu appears. Connecting OPTICAL IN connection Connect an optical output of Unit (or Digital Device etc) to the OPTICAL IN connector. Antenna Connection Connect the supplied FM antenna for listening to the radio. System Setting 19 Adjust the setup settings By using the Setup menu, you can make various adjustments to items such as picture and sound. To display and exit the Setup menu 1. Press n. Displays the [Home Menu]. You can also set a language for the subtitles and the Setup menu, among other things. For details on each Setup menu item, see pages 21 to 24. Disc Audio / Disc Subtitle / Disc Menu Select the language you prefer for the audio track (disc audio), subtitles, and the disc menu. System Setting 21 Audio DRC (Dynamic Range Control) Speaker Setup Make the sound clear when the volume is turned down (Dolby Digital only). Set to [On] for this effect. Make the following settings for the built-in 4.2 channel surround decoder. Vocal 1. Select [Speaker Setup] on the [Audio] menu. Select [On] to mix karaoke channels into normal stereo. 2. Press b ENTER. The [SPEAKER] appears. This function is effective for multi-channel karaoke DVDs only. HD AV Sync 4.
System Setting Lock (Parental Control) Password You can enter or change password. Initial Setting the Area Code: When you use this unit for the first time, you have to set the Area Code. 1. Select the [Lock] menu and then press D. 2. Press D. To access the [Lock] options, you must input the password you have created. Input a password and press b ENTER. Enter it again and press b ENTER to verify. If you make a mistake before pressing b ENTER, press CLEAR. 3. Select the first character using WS buttons.

Operating Other Operations Displaying Disc Information onscreen You can display various information about the disc loaded on-screen. r The 1.5 speed allows you to watch the pictures and listen to the sound quicker than playing at a normal speed. 1. Operating 27 Sleep Timer Setting Press SLEEP one or more times to select delay time between 10 and 180 minutes, after the unit will turn off. To check the remaining time, press SLEEP. To cancel the sleep function, press SLEEP repeatedly until “SLEEP 10” appears, and then press SLEEP once again while “SLEEP 10” is displayed. ,,Note You can check the remaining time before the Unit turns off. Press SLEEP The remaining time appears in the display window. Dimmer Press SLEEP once.
Operating Radio Operations Be sure that FM antenna is connected. (Refer to the page 20.) Listening to the radio 1. Press P FUNCTION until FM appears in the display window. The last received station is tuned in. 2. Press and hold TUNING (-/+) for about two seconds until the frequency indication starts to change, then release. Scanning stops when the unit tunes in a station. Deleting all the saved stations 1. Press and hold CLEAR for two seconds. “ERASEALL” will flash up on the unit display. 2.
Operating 29 Sound adjustment Setting the surround mode This system has a number of pre-set surround sound fields. You can select a desired sound mode by using SOUND EFFECT. You can change the SOUND EFFECT using AD arrow key while the sound effect information is displayed on. The displayed items for the equalizer maybe different depending on sound sources and effects. On Display Description You can enjoy the sound without equalizer effect. BASS BLAST (BASS) The BASS is Bass Blast.
Operating Advanced Operations Recording to USB You can record music or sound souce to USB device by connecting in to the port on the unit. 1. Connect the USB device to the unit. 2. Select a mode in which you want to record. Playback a sound source first. 3. Start the recording by pressing X REC. 4. To stop recording, press Z. [All tracks/ files recording] Record to USB in stop or play mode. [Program list recording] After marking desired file(s) and you can record it to USB (Refer to the page 27).
Operating 31 Using a BLUETOOTH® wireless technology About BLUETOOTH Bluetooth is wireless communication technology for short range connection. The sound may be interrupted when the connection interfered by the other electronic wave or you connect the Bluetooth in the other rooms. Connecting individual devices under Bluetooth wireless technology does not incur any charges.
Operating ,,Note yy The sound may be interrupted when the connection interfered by the other electronic wave. yy You cannot control the Bluetooth device with this unit. yy Pairing is limited one Bluetooth device per one unit and multi-pairing is not supported. yy Depending on the type of the device, you may not be able to use the Bluetooth function. yy You can enjoy wireless system using phone, MP3, Notebook, headset, etc.. yy When not connected the Bluetooth, “BT READY” appears on the display window.
Operating 33 Auto function change This unit recognizes input signals such as Bluetooth and then changes suitable function automatically. When you try to connect BLUETOOTH device When you try to connect your Bluetooth device to this unit, Bluetooth function is selected. Play your music on the Bluetooth device. ,,Note yy The Bluetooth unit which is not paired with this unit, cannot use the auto function change.
Operating AUTO POWER On This unit automatically turns on by an input source : Bluetooth. When you turn on your external device connected to this unit, this unit recognizes the input signal and select the suitable function. You can hear the sound from your device. If you try to connect your Bluetooth device, this unit turns on and is paired automatically. And then play your music.
Troubleshooting 35 Troubleshooting PROBLEM The unit does not work properly. CORRECTION yy Turn off the power of this unit and the connected external device (TV, Woofer, DVD-player, Amplifier, etc.) and turn it on again. yy Disconnect the power cord of this unit and the connected external device (TV, Woofer, DVD-player, Amplifier, etc.) and then try connecting again. No power yy Plug the power cord into the wall outlet securely.
Appendix Maintenance Handling the Unit When shipping the unit Please save the original shipping carton and packing materials. If you need to ship the unit, for maximum protection, re-pack the unit as it was originally packed at the factory. Keeping the exterior surfaces clean yy Do not use volatile liquids such as insecticide spray near the unit. yy Wiping with strong pressure may damage the surface. yy Do not leave rubber or plastic products in contact with the unit for a long period of time.
