PRODUCT FEATURES PRODUCT FEATURES DOOR ALARM The Door Alarm function is designed to prevent refrigerator malfunctioning that could occur if a refrigerator door or freezer door remains open. If a refrigerator door or freezer door is left open for more than 60 seconds, a warning alarm sounds at 30-second intervals. DOOR-IN-DOOR REFRESHMENT CENTER The Door-in-Door Refreshment Center provides a convenient area for frequently used items that require easy access.

Adjust the shelf height by emptying and removing the shelf and inserting it on a different set of shelf supports. INSTALLATION INSTALLATION Before Installing Installation Overview Please read the following installation instructions first after purchasing this product or transporting it to another location. INSTALLATION Unpacking the Refrigerator • Use two or more people to move and install the refrigerator. Failure to do so can result in back injury or other injury. • The refrigerator is heavy. Protect the floor when moving the refrigerator for cleaning or service. Always pull the refrigerator straight out when moving it. Do not wiggle or walk the refrigerator when trying to move it, as floor damage could occur. • Keep flammable materials and vapors, such as gasoline, away from the refrigerator.
INSTALLATION Dimensions and Clearances • Check the dimensions of the appliance and the installation path to ensure there is sufficient room to move the refrigerator through doors or narrow openings. • If an opening is too narrow to fit the refrigerator through, remove the refrigerator doors. See Removing/ Assembling the Doors and Drawers in this manual.
INSTALLATION Removing/Assembling the Refrigerator Door Handles 15 Removing and replacing refrigerator doors • When it is necessary to move the refrigerator through a narrow opening, removing the doors is the recommended procedure. If it is necessary to remove the handles, follow the directions below. The appearance of the handle may vary from what is shown in the illustrations. Removing the Handles 1 Loosen the set screws with a 3/32 in. Allen wrench and remove the handle.
INSTALLATION 5 6 Pull out the water supply lines 7 Rotate the hinge lever counterclockwise Lift the upper hinge free of the hinge lever latch . Unscrew the ground wire . 3 Turn the hinge lever on the clockwise. Lift the upper hinge separated from the bra of the hinge lever . 4 Place the door, with the inner part up, on a surface that does not scratch. . . CAUTION When you lift the hinge separate from the clamp, be careful that the Door does not fall forward.
INSTALLATION Disassembling/Assembling the water lines Place the top hinge above the latch the hinge lever and place it instead. Rotate the lever in direction counter clockwise and secure the hinge. 3 Reconnect all harnesses. Hook the tab on the side switch of the lid, under the edge of the opening in the top of the cabinet. Place the lid and replace screw. Collet Tube Insert lines 4 Tube Reconnect the water lines by inserting them into the connectors.
INSTALLATION CAUTION • To prevent burns and product damage, only connect the refrigerator water line to a cold water supply. • Wear eye protection during installation to prevent injury. • Power drill. • ½ in. or adjustable wrench. • Flat-blade and Phillips-head screwdrivers. • Two ¼ in. outer diameter compression nuts and 2 ferrules (sleeves) to connect the copper tubing to the shutoff valve and the refrigerator water valve. Water Pressure You will need a cold water supply.
INSTALLATION Water Line Installation Instructions WARNING • When using any electrical device (such as a power drill) during installation, be sure the device is battery-powered, double-insulated or grounded in a manner that will prevent the hazard of electric shock. 1 4 Fasten the shutoff valve. • Fasten the shutoff valve to the cold water pipe with the pipe clamp. NOTE • Commonwealth of Massachusetts Plumbing Codes 248CMR shall be adhered to.
6 INSTALLATION Route the tubing. • Route the tubing between the cold water line and the refrigerator. Route the tubing through a hole drilled in the wall or floor (behind the refrigerator or adjacent base cabinet) as close to the wall as possible. NOTE • Be sure there is sufficient extra tubing (about 8 ft. coiled into three turns of about 10 in. diameter) to allow the refrigerator to move out from the wall after installation. 7 Connect the tubing to the valve.
INSTALLATION 21 ENGLISH Leveling and Door Alignment Leveling The refrigerator has two front leveling legs. Adjust the legs to alter the tilt from front-toback or side-to side. If the refrigerator seems unsteady, or the doors do not close easily, adjust the refrigerator’s tilt using the instructions below: 1 Turn the leveling leg to the left to raise that side of the refrigerator or to the right to lower it. It may take several turns of the leveling leg to adjust the tilt of the refrigerator.
OPERATION OPERATION Before Use Checklist Clean the refrigerator. Clean the refrigerator thoroughly and wipe off all dust that accumulated during shipping. CAUTION • Do not scratch the refrigerator with a sharp object or use a detergent that contains alcohol, a flammable liquid or an abrasive when removing any tape or adhesive from the refrigerator. Remove adhesive residue by wiping it off with your thumb or dish detergent.
OPERATION Control Panel Airflow Cold air circulates from the freezer to the fresh food section and back again through air vents in the wall dividing the two sections. Be sure not to block vents while packing your refrigerator. Doing so will restrict airflow and may cause the refrigerator temperature to become too warm or cause interior moisture buildup. (See air flow diagram below.) CAUTION Because air circulates between both sections, any odors formed in one section will transfer to the other.
OPERATION Control Panel Features Ice Type Select Crushed Ice or Cubed Ice by pressing the Ice Type button repeatedly to choose the selection desired. The Crushed Ice or Cubed Ice icon will light up to indicate your selection. Selecting this icon indicates that cubed ice will be dispensed when the dispenser pad is activated. Selecting this icon indicates that crushed ice will be dispensed when the dispenser pad is activated.
OPERATION Ice Plus Ice ON/OFF • Press the Ice On/Off button for 3 seconds to turn the icemaker On or OFF. Smart Grid • Press the Smart Grid button to turn the Smart Grid function On/Off. When the function is on, the icon illuminates. • The Smart Grid function automatically turns on when the refrigerator is connected to the Wi-Fi network. • When the refrigerator is responding to a Demand Response (DR) message from the electric company, the Grid text illuminates.
OPERATION Automatic Icemaker Ice is made in the automatic icemaker and sent to the dispenser. The icemaker will produce 7 cubes per cycle - approximately 70-120 cubes in a 24-hour period, depending on freezer compartment temperature, room temperature, number of door openings and other operating conditions. WARNING Personal Injury Hazard • Do not place ngers or hands on the automatic ice making mechanism while the refrigerator is plugged in.
OPERATION 27 CAUTION ENGLISH • The first ice and water dispensed may include particles or odor from the water supply line or the water tank. • Throw away the first few batches of ice (about 24 cubes). This is also necessary if the refrigerator has not been used for a long time. • Never store beverage cans or other items in the ice bin for the purpose of rapid cooling. Doing so may damage the icemaker or the containers may burst. • If discolored ice is dispensed, check the water filter and water supply.

OPERATION Food Storage Tips Fish Freeze fresh fish and shellfish if they are not being eaten the same day purchased. Eating fresh fish and shellfish the same day purchased is recommended. Leftovers Cover leftovers with plastic wrap or aluminum foil, or store in plastic containers with tight lids. CAUTION • Do not overfill or pack items too tightly into door bins. Doing so may cause damage to the bin or personal injury if items are removed with excessive force.
OPERATION Follow package or container instructions for proper freezing methods. Do not use 1 To remove the Fresh Zone drawers, pull out the drawer to full extension , lift the front up , and pull straight out. 2 To install, slightly tilt up the front, insert the drawer into the frame and push it back into place.

OPERATION Door-in-Door Case (Only in some models) Door-in-Door Door Bins (Only in some models) To open the Door-in-Door case, pull evenly on the marked area. The Door-in-Door Case is removable for easy cleaning and adjustment. The Door-in-Door inner and outer door bins are removable for easy cleaning. 1 To remove the door bins, lift up and pull out. 2 To replace the door bins, slide the door bin in above the desired support and push down until it snaps into place.
OPERATION Adjusting the Refrigerator Shelves Adjusting the shelves to fit items of different heights will make finding the exact item you want easier. Detaching the Shelf 1 Remove all items from the shelf. Lift the back of the shelf slightly to disengage the rail stops. 2 Holding the shelf with both hands, tilt the shelf and pull it out. Assembling the Shelf 1 Tilt the front of the shelf up and guide the shelf into the slots at a desired height, keeping shelf holder down.
SMART FUNCTIONS SMART FUNCTIONS 3 Connect your smartphone to the wireless router. LG ThinQ Application This feature is only available on models with Wi-Fi. The LG ThinQ application allows you to communicate with the appliance using a smartphone. LG ThinQ Application Features Communicate with the appliance from a smartphone using the convenient smart features. Smart Diagnosis • If you experience a problem while using the appliance, this smart diagnosis feature will help you diagnose the problem.
SMART FUNCTIONS Installing the LG ThinQ Application • Follow instructions to download and install the application. Connecting to Wi-Fi The Wi-Fi button, when used with the LG ThinQ application, allows the appliance to connect to a home Wi-Fi network. The icon shows the status of the appliance’s network connection. The icon illuminates when the appliance is connected to the Wi-Fi network.

SMART FUNCTIONS Using the Smart Grid Function If the refrigerator receives a Demand Response signal from the utility company, the refrigerator willturn on the Grid LED on the refrigerator display and control its power consumption according to the signal. The refrigerator will respond to the signals received from the utility company as long as product performance is maintained.

Use this feature to help you diagnose and solve problems with your appliance. 1 Press and hold the Lock button for 3 seconds or longer. 2 Open the right door. 3 Press and hold the Freezer button for 3 seconds or longer. • The control panel will be turned off, and then ‘3’ will be displayed on the Freezer temperature display part.
MAINTENANCE 39 MAINTENANCE WARNING • Use non-flammable cleaner. Failure to do so can result in fire, explosion, or death. • Do not damage the refrigerant circuit. CAUTION • Do not use an abrasive cloth or sponge when cleaning the interior and exterior of the refrigerator. • Do not place your hand on the bottom surface of the refrigerator when opening and closing the doors. • When lifting the hinge free of the latch, be careful that the door does not fall forward.
MAINTENANCE Replacing the Water Filter CAUTION • Rotate the water filter up into position and close the cover. The cover will click when closed correctly. It is recommended that you replace the water filter: • Approximately every six months. • When the water filter indicator turns on. • When the water dispenser output decreases. • When the ice cubes are smaller than normal. 1 Remove the old water filter. • Lower or remove the top left shelf to allow the water filter to rotate all the way down.

TROUBLESHOOTING 43 TROUBLESHOOTING Frequently Asked Questions Q: How do I unclog the ice dispenser chute? A: Eliminate the frost of ice fragments by removing the ice bin and clearing the chute with a plastic utensil. Dispensing cubed ice can also help prevent frost or ice fragment buildup. Make sure that the refrigerator doors are closed before attempting to dispense ice.
TROUBLESHOOTING Before Calling for Service Cooling Problem Possible Cause & Solution A fuse in your home may be blown or the circuit breaker tripped. Or the appliance is connected to a GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) outlet, and the outlet’s circuit breaker has tripped. • Check the main electrical box and replace the fuse or reset the circuit breaker. Do not increase fuse capacity. If the problem is a circuit overload, have it corrected by a qualified electrician.

If the problem persists, it may be necessary to contact a plumber. Low house water supply pressure.
TROUBLESHOOTING Problem Icemaker is not making ice Possible Cause & Solution Refrigerator was recently installed or icemaker recently connected. • It may take up to 24 hours for each compartment to reach the desired temperature and for the icemaker to begin making ice. Icemaker is not turned on. • Locate the icemaker ON/OFF and confirm that it is turned on. The ice detecting sensor is obstructed. • Foreign substances or frost on the ice-detecting sensor can interrupt ice production.
TROUBLESHOOTING 49 Parts & Features Possible Cause & Solution Food packages are blocking the door open. • Rearrange food containers to clear the door and door shelves. Ice bin, crisper cover, pans, shelves, door bins, or baskets are out of position. • Push bins all the way in and put crisper cover, pans, shelves and baskets into their correct positions. See the Operation section for more information. The doors were removed during product installation and not properly replaced.
TROUBLESHOOTING Problem Ice is not dispensing. Possible Cause & Solution Doors are not closed completely. • Ice will not dispense if any of the refrigerator doors are left open. Infrequent use of the dispenser. • Infrequent use of the ice dispenser will cause the cubes to stick together over time, which will prevent them from properly dispensing. Check the ice bin for ice cubes clumping/sticking together. If they are, break up the ice cubes to allow for proper operation.
TROUBLESHOOTING 51 Problem New installation or water line recently connected. • Dispense 2.5 gallons of water (fl ush for approximately 5 minutes) to remove trapped air and contaminants from the system. Do not dispense the entire 2.5 gallon amount continuously. Depress and release the dispenser pad for cycles of 30 seconds ON and 60 seconds OFF. The dispenser panel is locked. • Press and hold the Lock button for three seconds to unlock the control panel and dispenser.
