INSTALLATION 13 Choosing the Proper Location Floor Installation 53 1 / 8 " NOTE ••Before installing the washer, make sure the floor is clean, dry and free of dust, dirt, water and oil so the washer feet cannot slide easily. Leveling feet that can move or slide on the floor can contribute to excess vibration and noise due to poor contact with the floor. 48 1 / 2 " 0.2" 49 1 / 4 " 1" ••Allow for sufficient space between the walls and the washer for installation.
INSTALLATION Stacking the Mini Washer 3 Stacking switch Remove and save the foam block for future use. ••If the Mini Washer must be moved in the future, the foam block will help prevent damage to the Mini Washer during transportation. INSTALLATION 15 6 8 Securely attach the two appliances at the corners using the 14 long screws. ••First, insert screws on each side. Then insert screws on the front and back side. NOTE ••Assembly may be more difficult if the steps are not performed in the proper order. ••The stacking switch should be assemble with two long screws. 1 1 2 7 3 Place the Main Washer on top of the Mini Washer.
INSTALLATION Connecting the Water Lines 1 Check the fittings and seals. Inspect the threaded fitting on each hose and make sure there is a rubber seal in place in both ends of each hose to prevent leaking. Rubber seal Water hose (to water inlet on washer) 2 Rubber seal 4 Attach the water lines to the back of the washer. Attach the hot water line to the hot water inlet on the back of the washer. Attach the cold water line to the cold water inlet on the back of the washer.
INSTALLATION 17 Connecting the Drain Hose ••The drain must be installed in accordance with any applicable local codes and regulations. ••Make sure that the drain hose is not stretched, pinched, crushed, or kinked. 1 Connect the drain hoses of the Main Washer and the Mini Washer to the drain connector. 2 Insert the included band clamps onto the ends of the two drain hoses. 3 Push the drain hoses firmly onto the drain connector and adjust the band clamps to secure the hoses.
INSTALLATION 2 Insert the end of the drain hose connector into the standpipe. Leveling the Appliance The tub of the washer spins at very high speeds. To minimize vibration, noise, and unwanted movement, the floor must be a level, solid surface. The slope beneath the washer should not exceed 1 inch, and all four leveling feet must rest firmly on the floor. WARNING ••To prevent the washer from tipping over, always move stacked machines from the bottom, not the top.
INSTALLATION 19 3 Tighten the locknuts. Turn the locknuts counter-clockwise and tighten them when the washer is level. If you install the washer on a slippery surface, it may move because of excessive vibration. Incorrect leveling may cause malfunction through noise and vibration. If this occurs, install the non-skid pads under the leveling feet and adjust the level. 1 Clean the floor to attach the non-skid pads. Use a dry rag to remove and clean foreign objects or moisture.
INSTALLATION Connecting to the Power Supply The washer should be plugged into a 120-VAC, 60 Hz grounded 3-prong outlet. Plug in the washer. WARNING ••Do not use a worn or damaged power cord or power plug. Replace or repair it immediately. Failure to do so may result in death, fire, electric shock, or malfunction. ••Do not modify the power cord and plug provided with the appliance. Do not damage it when installing or moving the washer. Doing so may result in death, fire, electric shock, or malfunction.
OPERATION 21 OPERATION If the Mini Washer is paired with the Main Washer, swipe down to see the Settings screen on the Main Washer's display and select the Mini Washer. Close the Settings screen and select a cycle. ••The default cycle settings can be modified when you choose the cycle by pressing any setting. You can also add options if desired. ••See Washer Pairing section. 5 Begin cycle. ••Press the Start/Pause button to begin the cycle.
OPERATION Sorting Laundry CAUTION ••The tub should not be tightly packed with items. The lid of the washer should close easily. ••Use the Bulky/Large cycle in the Main Washer for buoyant or nonabsorbent items such as pillows or comforters. Refer to owner's manual included with washing machine. Failure to follow this caution can result in leakage.
OPERATION 23 Loading the Washer Adding Cleaning Products ••Check and empty pockets. Paper clips, coins, matches, etc. can damage clothing and the washer. Detergent Use ••Pretreat heavily stained areas for best results. ••Do not wash single small items. Add 1-2 similar items to the load to prevent an out-of-balance load. ••Large, bulky items, such as a blanket, or bedspread, should be washed individually in the Main Washer. ••Do not wash/spin waterproof items.
OPERATION Adding Detergent Method 2: If You Miss the Add Point 1 1 Press the Power button to interrupt the cycle. 2 Select the Rinse+Spin cycle and press the Start/ Pause button to start the cycle. 3 Add the fabric softener at the chimes following instructions above. 2 Slide the drawer open, open the lid, and load laundry in the tub. ••Measure the detergent with the detergent dispenser and pour it into the tub.
OPERATION 25 Control Panel If the washer is paired with the Main Washer, operate it from the control panel on either the Main Washer or the Mini Washer, or use the remote control. Control Panel on the Main Washer 4 3 1 2 1 Display The display shows the cycle status and estimated time remaining. 2 Start/Pause Button Press this button to start the selected cycle. If the washer is running, use this button to pause the cycle without losing the current settings.
OPERATION Control Panel on the Mini Washer 1 2 3 4 1 2 Power Button Press to turn the washer on. Press again to turn the washer off. Pressing the Power button during a cycle will cancel that cycle and any load settings will be lost. The drawer will unlock after a brief pause. 3 NOTE •• If Start/Pause is not pressed within 15 minutes of selecting a cycle, the washer automatically turns off and all cycle settings are lost.
OPERATION 27 Wash Cycles Press the button to select the desired cycle. When you select a wash cycle, the light for the corresponding wash cycle will turn on. NOTE ••Whenever load weights are mentioned, assume 1 lb (0.45 kg) = 1 thick bath towel (dry). Wash Cycle Normal Intimates Description Use this cycle to wash lightly soiled normal fabrics. Do not use for delicate fabrics such as wool or silk.

OPERATION 29 Option Cycles After selecting a cycle, select additional features for the load. Spin Only To activate a spin only cycle, select the Rinse+Spin cycle for 3 seconds. Tub Clean Use this cycle to clean the tub of the washer. Warm Water The warm water option is selected by default on the Normal and Intimates cycles. It can be deselected by pressing the Warm Water button. The water temperature can not be set on the Rinse+Spin.
OPERATION Settings If pairing fails, follow these steps: Washer Pairing (Optional) 1 Make sure the mini washer is plugged in. For convenience, the Mini Washer can be paired to the Main Washer and operated from the Main Washer's control panel. 2 Reset the mini washer: Press the Power button on the mini washer. Press and hold Normal and Tub Clean at the same time for 7 seconds. 3 If pairing fails several times, reset both the main washer and mini washer.
OPERATION 31 Switching Between Main and Mini Washer X Select this to delete all the stored data and reset to the default settings. 1 Press the Power button. 2 Swipe down on the display to open the Settings screen and select More Settings. Select Factory Data Reset from the Settings menu. SMART FUNCTIONS SMART FUNCTIONS Smart Diagnosis™ through the Customer Information Center ••For appliances with the or logo NOTE ••Smart Diagnosis™ cannot be activated unless the appliance can be turned on using the Power button. If the appliance cannot be turned on, troubleshooting must be done without using Smart Diagnosis™. ••For best results, do not move the phone while the tones are being transmitted. This method allows you to speak directly to our trained specialists.
MAINTENANCE 33 MAINTENANCE To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury to persons, read this entire owner's manual, including the Important Safety Instructions, before operating this washer. ••Unplug the washer before cleaning to avoid the risk of electric shock. Failure to follow this warning can cause serious injury, fire, electric shock, or death. ••Do not use volatile substances (benzene, paint thinner, alcohol, acetone, etc.
MAINTENANCE Cleaner Instructions Tub cleaner Lime scale remover Liquid chlorine bleach Place directly into washer tub Powdered cleaner Cleaning tablets NOTE ••Never load laundry while using Tub Clean. The laundry may be damaged or contaminated with cleaning products. Make sure to run the Tub Clean cycle only when the tub is empty. ••Leave the door open after finishing the laundry, to keep the tub clean. ••Tub Clean should be repeated monthly.
MAINTENANCE 35 Cleaning the Lid Seal Clean the lid seal once a month to prevent build-up of dirt. Wear rubber gloves and protective goggles. 2 Dilute 3/4 cup (177 ml) of liquid chlorine bleach in 1 gallon (3.8 L) of water. 3 Wipe around the lid seal. Soak a sponge or a soft cloth in this diluted solution and wipe all around the lid seal. 4 Wipe dry. After cleaning, wipe up any moisture with a dry towel or cloth. 5 Leave the lid open to allow the door seal to dry completely.
MAINTENANCE Care in Cold Climates When the Water Line is Frozen Storing the Washer 1 Turn off the faucets connected with the water lines. 2 Pour hot water on the frozen faucets to thaw the water lines and remove water lines. 3 Immerse the water lines in hot water to thaw them. 4 Connect the water lines with the water inlets of the washer and with the faucets. See Connecting the Water Lines for details. 5 Turn on the faucets. 6 Press the Power button.
TROUBLESHOOTING 37 TROUBLESHOOTING Q: Can the Mini Washer and the Main Washer be run at the same time? A: Yes. The Mini Washer is designed to operate simultaneously under a matching LG Signature Main Washer. It is not designed for operation under LG top-loading washers, LG dryers, non-LG manufactured appliances, or as a standalone unit. For more information regarding compatibility, visit the LG website at www.lg.com/us/twinwash.
TROUBLESHOOTING Q: Can I open the drawer out while the cycle is running? A: No. The drawer locks for safety during operation. Pause the cycle to open the drawer. Q: How can I add an item after I have started the cycle? A: Press the Start/Pause button to pause the cycle. After the drawer unlocks, add the item and press Start/Pause to restart the cycle. Wash performance may be affected if the item is added after the first few minutes.
TROUBLESHOOTING 39 Before Calling for Service Noises You Might Hear Noise Possible Cause Solutions Spraying or Hissing Water spraying or circulating during the cycle. ••Normal Operation Humming or Gurgling Drain pump is pumping water from the washer at times during a cycle. ••Normal Operation Water sloshing A liquid in the balance ring around the wash basket helps the basket spin smoothly.
TROUBLESHOOTING Operation Problem Possible Cause Hoses are not connected correctly. Solutions ••Check hoses and connectors for leaks, cracks and splits. ••Check and tighten hose connections. Water leaking House drain pipes are clogged. ••The washer pumps out water very rapidly. Check for water backing up out of the drain pipe during drain. If water is seen coming out of the drain, check for proper drain hose installation and check for restrictions in the drain.
TROUBLESHOOTING 41 Problem The washer automatically adjusts the wash time for the amount of laundry, water pressure and other operating conditions. Solutions ••This is normal. The washer adjusts cycle time automatically to provide optimal results for the selected cycle. The time remaining shown in the display is only an estimate. Actual time may vary. ••Make sure to measure detergent using the provided dispenser. Use only HE (HighEfficiency) detergent.
TROUBLESHOOTING Problem Possible Cause Solutions Filter clogged. ••Make sure the inlet filters on the fill valves are not clogged. Refer to the filter cleaning instructions. Inlet hoses may be kinked. ••Check that inlet hoses are not kinked or clogged. Energy efficiency ••This is a High-Efficiency (HE) washer. As a result, the water level settings for this washer may be different than for conventional washers.
TROUBLESHOOTING 43 Performance Problem Staining Washer not unloaded promptly. ••Always remove items from the washer as soon as the cycle is complete. Washer overloaded. ••The washer can be fully loaded, but the tub should not be tightly packed with items. The lid of the washer should close easily. Hot and cold water inlet hoses are reversed. ••Hot water rinse can set wrinkles in garments. Check the inlet hose connections. Softener was added directly to the wash load in the tub.
TROUBLESHOOTING Error Codes Problem Possible Cause Solutions Water supply faucets are not fully open. ••Make sure that the water faucets are fully open. Water line hoses are kinked, pinched, or crushed. ••Make sure that the hoses are not kinked or pinched. Be careful when moving the washer. Water inlet filters are clogged. ••Clean the inlet filters. See Maintenance in the Care and Cleaning section. Water supply pressure to faucet or house is too low.
TROUBLESHOOTING 45 Problem Possible Cause Solutions ••Open the drawer and make sure the latch area is free of clothing or other obstructions. ••Close the lid, close the drawer, and press the Start/ Pause button to start the cycle. ••If the lid is closed and the lid error message is displayed, call for service. Control error. ••Unplug the power cord and call for service. Water level is too high due to a faulty water valve. ••Close the water faucets, unplug the washer, and call for service.
