INSTALLATION 11 Tools Needed b Flat-Blade Screwdriver c Level Choosing the Proper Location Check the following requirements for the install location before installing the washer. • Allow for sufficient space between the walls and the washer for installation. • Make sure that the floor is clean, dry and free of dust, dirt, water and oil so the leveling feet cannot slide easily. Leveling feet that can move or slide on the floor can contribute to excess vibration and noise.
INSTALLATION Removing Shipping Material NOTE • Refer to the instructions packaged with the optional pedestal kit before stacking appliance on pedestal. 1 Remove the bolt assemblies. • Starting with the bottom two shipping bolts c , use the included wrench to fully loosen all 3 shipping bolts by turning them counterclockwise. • Do not use a drain pan with a pedestal or pedestal washer installation as it can block the drawer.
INSTALLATION 13 Connecting the Water Inlet Hoses WARNING • Do not overtighten the hoses or cross-thread the hose fittings. Overtightening or cross-threading can damage the valves or couplings, resulting in leaking and property damage. ENGLISH To avoid the risk of costly water damage, purchase and install new water inlet hoses when installing the washer. 2 Connect the water supply hoses.
INSTALLATION NOTE • Close the cold water faucet slightly if water hammer noise persists. • Install the arrestor with the air chamber c facing up. Connecting Water Hammer Arrestor Install the provided water hammer arrestor to minimize the water hammer noise that may be caused by the rapid pulses of water used to clean the lint filter. Connecting the Drain Hose Connect the drain hose to either a standpipe or laundry tub. WARNING • The drain hose should always be properly secured.
INSTALLATION 15 Insert the end of the drain hose into the standpipe. 3 Use the provided tie strap b to secure the drain hose in place. 2 Hang the end of the drain hose over the side of the laundry tub. 3 Use the provided tie strap to secure the drain hose in place. ENGLISH 2 4 If the water valves and drain are built into the wall, fasten the drain hose to one of the water hoses with the provided tie strap c (ribbed side on inside).
INSTALLATION a carpenter’s level a, you can use it to check that the washer is level. The slope beneath the washer should not exceed 1 inch, and all 4 leveling feet must rest firmly on the floor. 1 Clean the floor to attach the non-skid pads. • Use a dry rag to remove and clean foreign objects or moisture. If moisture remains, the non-skid pads may slip. 2 Adjust the level after placing the washer in the installation area. 3 Place the adhesive side c of the non-skid pad on the floor.
INSTALLATION 17 • Do not damage or cut off the ground prong of the power cord. Doing so may cause death, fire, electric shock, or product malfunction. • The appliance and outlet must be positioned so that the plug is easily accessible. • Do not use an adapter or extension cord. Doing so may result in serious injury, fire, electric shock, or death. • For best performance, plug the appliance into its own individual outlet.
OPERATION OPERATION Before Use WARNING • To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury to persons, read the SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS before operating this appliance. Operation Overview 1 Sort laundry and load the washer. • Sort laundry by fabric type, soil level, color and load size as needed. Open the door and load items into the washer. • If using single-use detergent packs, or gel or tablet detergents, place them in the drum before loading the laundry. 2 Add cleaning products.
OPERATION 19 7 End of cycle. • When the cycle is finished, a melody sounds. Immediately remove the clothing from the washer to reduce wrinkling. NOTE • The washer rotates the laundry in a way that allows it to use less water while still fully saturating the clothing. It is normal to be unable to see water during the wash cycle. • If the temperature or the water level inside the machine is too high, the door will not unlock when the Start/Pause button is pressed.

Using the chart below, adjust the cycle and option selections to care for your clothing according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.
OPERATION 21 • Combine large and small items in the drum. Load large items first. Large items should not be more than half of the total load. • The washer will not fill or operate with the door open. Bulky Items • Wash thick, bulky items individually. Heavy blankets, comforters, bedspreads, or pet beds can get tangled or cause an unbalanced load if combined with other items. • Do not use more than one single-use detergent pack in the washer.
OPERATION WARNING • Do not mix chlorine bleach with ammonia or acids such as vinegar or rust/scale remover. Mixing chemicals like these can produce a lethal gas, resulting in severe injury or death. 3 4 Turn the caps on the Auto Dispense tray to the left to open the two reservoirs. Pour the detergent and softener into their respective reservoirs. • The Auto Dispense tray has two reservoirs. Put the liquid detergent a into the left reservoir and the fabric softener b into the right reservoir.
OPERATION 23 • A full detergent reservoir will last for about 18 standard cycles, with half a load of laundry in the drum. ENGLISH • The default settings are configured to automatically dispense 2.4 oz (70 ml) of detergent and 1 oz (30 ml) of softener for 8-12 lb (4-6 kg) of normally soiled laundry. This can be changed using the More Settings button. For more details, see the Settings section of this manual.
OPERATION Control Panel Control Panel Features Everyday Cycles, Special Cycles, Dry Cycles (Optional), Download Cycles, and My Pattern. • Use My Pattern for cycles you use frequently. If you run the same cycle more than three times, it will be registered under My Pattern. • Cycle categories may differ on some models. a Quick Setting • Control Lock, Remote Start, Auto Detergent, Auto Softener, Selection of Main Washer and Mini Washer, and More Settings are displayed.
OPERATION 25 Wash Cycles Cycle Guide Turn the knob or press the button to select the desired cycle. When you select a wash cycle, the light for the corresponding wash cycle will turn on. NOTE • Whenever load weights are mentioned, assume 1 lb (0.45 kg) = 1 thick bath towel (dry). Everyday Cycles Cycle Description Normal Use to wash all normal items such as cotton, linen, shirts, jeans or mixed loads, except delicate fabrics such as wool or silk.
OPERATION Cycle Auto Wash Description Use this cycle to adjust wash and rinse patterns automatically after detecting load size and soil level. Wash Temp. Default: Warm Available: Hot, Warm, Cold, Tap Cold Spin Speed Default: Very High Available: All Soil Level Default: Normal Available: Heavy Cycle Perm.Press Description Use this cycle to minimize wrinkles when washing tablecloths or “wrinkle-free” clothes. OPERATION 27 Cycle Sanitary Default: High Available: High, Medium, Low, Very Low Soil Level Default: Normal Available: Heavy, Normal Cycle Speed Wash+Dry Description This cycle provides both washing and drying within 80 minutes for up to 3 lightly soiled shirts. Wash Temp.
OPERATION Cycle Description Spin This cycle is for draining and spinning without the wash and rinse cycle, or for removing the load from the washing machine in the middle of the cycle. • You can change the spin speed in the Spin options screen after selecting the cycle. Spin Speed Default: Extra High Available: All Cycle Description Bulky/Large Suitable for washing blankets or bulky items which have difficulty absorbing water, such as pillows, blankets, comforters, sheets or pet bedding.

OPERATION Cycle Modifiers About Modifier Buttons Each cycle has default settings that are selected automatically. You can also customize these settings using the cycle modifier buttons. • Press the button for the desired modifier to open the modifier's screen. • The washer automatically adjusts the water level for the type and size of wash load for best results and maximum efficiency. • This is a high-efficiency washer, and the water levels may be much lower than you expect.
OPERATION 31 • Do not overload the appliance by stuffing too many articles into the drum. Items must be able to tumble freely. • After the end of dry, ENd is displayed. Woolen Articles Do not tumble dry woolen articles. Pull them to their original shape and dry them flat. Woven and Loopknit Materials • It is normal for the dryer fan motor to run for about 60 seconds after the dry cycle is stopped. • Be careful when removing your clothing from the appliance, as the clothing or appliance may be hot.
OPERATION Only Using a Dry Function 1 Prepare the laundry and load the drum. • For consistently dry loads, all articles in the load should be similar in material and thickness. • Do not overload the drum. Items must have room to tumble freely. 2 Select a dry cycle. 4 Touch the Add Drying a button to open the modifier's screen and change the default dry setting. 5 Press the Start/Pause button. NOTE Press the Power button. • Delay Wash can be selected for every cycle in this table.
OPERATION 33 Options and Extra Functions • Select the desired option after selecting the desired cycle and settings. NOTE • The LED for the option will light when the option is selected. • To protect your garments, not every option is available with every cycle. • A chime will sound twice and the LED will not light if the selected option is not allowed for the selected cycle.
OPERATION NOTE • This function is disabled during the Tub Clean cycle or while a cycle is in Spin mode for safety. • To preserve wash performance, wash time may be extended depending on when garments are added to a cycle. • Be careful when opening the door as wet laundry may drip or fall out.
OPERATION 35 Auto Dispense More Settings Use this button to set up and control the Auto Dispense function. Swipe down the display to open the Settings screen. Touch More Settings to reveal the entire Settings menu. • When the Refill Alarm is turned on, it sends a message when the detergent or softener need refilling. X Wi-Fi Set up the Wi-fi connection. When Wi-Fi is turned on, the Wi-Fi icon appears in the display. • The default settings are configured to dispense 2.
OPERATION Locking/Unlocking the Control Panel 1 Turn on the power. 2 Touch Control Lock in the Settings screen to activate/deactivate this function. Switching Between Main and Mini Washer When the Main Washer and Mini Washer are paired, this function allows you to switch the controls between the two washers. Swipe down to open the Settings screen to select Main Washer or Mini Washer. X Washer Pairing (Optional) Select this to (un)pair the Main Washer and the Mini Washer.
OPERATION 37 4 Press the Yes button. NOTE • The pairing can be delayed or fail due to communication problems between the Main Washer and Mini Washer or a Wi-Fi issue. ENGLISH • When a factory data reset is performed on the Main Washer, all data is deleted, including the Wi-Fi settings.
SMART FUNCTIONS SMART FUNCTIONS Using LG ThinQ Application Before Using LG ThinQ Application The LG ThinQ application allows you to communicate with the appliance using a smartphone. 1 • If the appliance is too far from the router, the signal strength becomes weak. It may take a long time to connect or installation may fail. LG ThinQ Application Features The app is compatible with products that contain the wireless LAN module.
SMART FUNCTIONS 39 unplug the appliance and wait about a minute before trying again. • The wireless network name (SSID) should be a combination of English letters and numbers. (Do not use special characters.) • Once this function is enabled, you can only start a cycle from the LG ThinQ smartphone application. If the cycle is not started, the appliance will wait to start the cycle until it is turned off remotely from the application or this function is disabled.
SMART FUNCTIONS Deleting a Downloaded Cycle • Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna. 1 Press the Power button. • Increase the separation between the equipment and the receiver. 2 Swipe left on the display to get to the Download Cycles screen and press Edit. • Connect the equipment to an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected. • You may need to delete one of the existing cycles to make room for a new downloaded cycle.
SMART FUNCTIONS 41 NOTE This feature is only available on models with the c or d logo. • Do not touch any other buttons or icons on the display screen. Use this feature to help you diagnose and solve problems with your appliance. NOTE • For reasons not attributable to LGE’s negligence, the service may not operate due to external factors such as, but not limited to, Wi-Fi unavailability, Wi-Fi disconnection, local app store policy, or app unavailability.

MAINTENANCE 43 Close the door and press the Power button. 4 Touch the Tub Clean cycle from the Download Cycles and press the Start/Pause button to begin the cycle. 5 After the cycle ends, open the door and allow the drum interior to dry completely. WARNING • Make sure children and pets do not climb into the drum. Engage the Control Lock feature if needed to prevent children from accidentally starting a wash cycle.
MAINTENANCE Cleaning the Water Inlet Filters If the washer does not fill properly, an error message will appear on the display. The inlet valve filter screens could be clogged by hard water scale, sediment in the water supply, or other debris. WARNING 6 Clean the Auto Dispense tray and check valves with warm water. 7 Wipe off any moisture with a dry towel or cloth after cleaning.
MAINTENANCE 45 7 Flush then reattach the water hoses. 4 • Twist the pump filter counterclockwise to remove. ENGLISH • Before reattaching the water inlet hoses, flush them by running several gallons of water through them into a bucket or drain, preferably with the faucets wide open for maximum flow. Remove the pump filter. NOTE • An IE error message may blink on the display when the water pressure is low or an inlet filter is clogged with dirt. Clean the inlet filter.

TROUBLESHOOTING TROUBLESHOOTING Before Calling for Service The washer is equipped with an automatic error-monitoring system to detect and diagnose problems at an early stage. If the washer does not function properly or does not function at all, check the following before you call for service. Noises Problem Clicking Possible Cause & Solution Door lock sounds when the door locks or unlocks.
TROUBLESHOOTING 49 Operation Problem Hoses are not connected correctly. • Check hoses and connectors for leaks, cracks, and splits. • Check and tighten hose connections. House drain pipes are clogged. • The washer pumps out water very rapidly. Check for water backing up out of the drain pipe during drain. If water is seen coming out of the drain, check for proper drain hose installation and check for restrictions in the drain. • Contact a plumber to repair drain pipe.
TROUBLESHOOTING Problem Incomplete or no dispensing of detergent Possible Cause & Solution Detergent compartments clogged from incorrect filling. • Make sure that detergent and additives are put into the correct Auto Dispense reservoirs. Too much detergent used. • Make sure that the suggested amount of detergent is used according to the manufacturer’s recommendations. You may also dilute the detergent with water to the maximum fill line on the compartment to avoid clogging.
TROUBLESHOOTING 51 Problem Washer is not filling properly. Possible Cause & Solution Filter is clogged. Inlet hoses may be kinked. • Check that inlet hoses are not kinked or clogged. Energy efficiency • This is a High-Efficiency (HE) washer. As a result, the water level settings for this washer may be different than for conventional washer. Insufficient water supply • Make sure that both hot and cold water faucets are turned on all the way. Washer door is open.
TROUBLESHOOTING Problem Staining Possible Cause & Solution Liquid chlorine bleach or softener was added directly to the wash load in the drum. • Do not use liquid chlorine bleach with this model. • Softener should be put in the Auto Dispense tray. Washer was not unloaded promptly. • Always remove items from the washer as soon as possible after the cycle is completed. Clothes were not properly sorted. • Always wash dark colors separately from light colors and whites to prevent discoloration.
TROUBLESHOOTING 53 Odor Problem Some odor is caused by the rubber attached to the washing machine. • This odor is normal for new rubber and will disappear after the machine has been run a few times. If the rubber door gasket and door seal area are not cleaned regularly, odors can occur from mold or foreign substances. • Be sure to clean the gasket and door seal regularly and check under the door seal for small items when unloading the washer.

INSTALACIÓN 13 Instálelos en los orificios de los ensambles de pernos. NOTA • No estire intencionalmente las mangueras de agua y asegúrese de que no estén apretadas, aplastadas ni plegadas por otros objetos. PRECAUCIÓN • Después de retirarlos, guarde los ensambles de pernos para uso futuro. Para evitar el daño de los componentes internos, no transporte la lavadora sin volver a instalar los pernos de transporte.
14 INSTALACIÓN • Conecte la manguera azul a la llave de agua fría y la manguera roja a la llave de agua caliente. 3 Conexión del supresor de golpes de ariete Instale el supresor de golpes de ariete suministrado para minimizar el ruido de golpes de agua que pueden causar los rápidos pulsos de agua que limpian el filtro de pelusas. No utilice un cable de extensión de una longitud mayor a 3 pies. El incumplimiento de estas advertencias puede resultar en lesiones graves, incendios, descargas eléctricas o la muerte. Prueba de la lavadora Verifique que la lavadora esté correctamente instalada y ejecute un ciclo de prueba.
FUNCIONAMIENTO 19 FUNCIONAMIENTO ADVERTENCIA • Para reducir el riesgo de incendios, descargas eléctricas o lesiones a las personas, lea las INSTRUCCIONES DE SEGURIDAD antes de operar este artefacto. Funcionamiento general 1 Clasificación y carga de la lavadora. • Dependiendo de la necesidad, clasifique la ropa según tipo de tejido, nivel de suciedad, color o tamaño de la carga. Abra la puerta y cargue las prendas en la lavadora.

Remueva inmediatamente las prendas de la lavadora para reducir las arrugas. • Verifique alrededor del sello de la puerta cuando retire la ropa lavada y busque si no han quedado objetos pequeños atrapados en el sello.

22 FUNCIONAMIENTO • Asegúrese de que los zípers y los ganchos de la ropa estén cerrados y amarre cualquier cordón para evitar que las prendas se enganchen o enreden. • Para mejores resultados, trate previamente las áreas con manchas difíciles. • Con un cepillo, quite el polvo, los pelos y la suciedad más densa de los artículos antes de lavarlos. El exceso de suciedad o arena puede raspar otras telas y causar un lavado deficiente. • Para un mejor rendimiento, cargue la ropa como se muestra.

Seque la humedad con un paño o una toalla seca luego de limpiar. 8 Ensamble el tapón del dispensador de detergente líquido, el tapón del dispensador de suavizante líquido y las válvulas de retención en la bandeja del Auto Dispense (Dispensador automático) y gírelos hacia la derecha hasta que ajusten bien.
48 MANTENIMIENTO ADVERTENCIA 7 • Las rejillas de entrada protegen las partes delicadas de la válvula de partículas que puedan ingresar a través del suministro de agua. Operar la lavadora sin estos filtros podría causar que una válvula se quede abierta continuamente, provocando una inundación y/o daños a la propiedad. PRECAUCIÓN • No use la lavadora sin los filtros de entrada. Hacerlo causará fugas y mal funcionamiento.
MANTENIMIENTO 49 ESPAÑOL 4 8 Retire el filtro de la bomba. • Desenrosque el filtro de la bomba hacia la izquierda para quitarlo. Cierre la cubierta inferior. NOTA • El mensaje OE aparece parpadeando en la pantalla cuando el filtro de la bomba de desagüe está obstruido con suciedad. Limpie el filtro de la bomba de desagüe. Cuidado en climas fríos Almacenamiento de la lavadora 5 Limpie el filtro de la bomba y la abertura.
50 MANTENIMIENTO 5 Agregue 1 galón de anticongelante no tóxico para vehículos recreativos (RV) en el tambor vacío y cierre la puerta. 4 Sumerja las mangueras de entrada de agua en agua caliente para descongelarlas. • Nunca use anticongelante para automóviles. 5 Vuelva a conectar las mangueras de entrada a las entradas de agua de la lavadora y a las llaves. 6 Encienda la lavadora y toque el ciclo Spin (Centrifugado) en Download Cycles (Descargar programas).
SOLUCIÓN DE PROBLEMAS 51 SOLUCIÓN DE PROBLEMAS La lavadora está equipada con un sistema automático de detección de errores para detectar y diagnosticar problemas en una etapa temprana. Si la lavadora no funciona correctamente o no funciona en absoluto, compruebe lo siguiente antes de llamar al servicio técnico. Use solo detergente con el logotipo de alta eficiencia (HE). • No coloque detergente en el dispensador manual mientras esté activada la función Auto Detergent (Detergente automático).

Presione el botón de Encendido/Apagado para encender la lavadora. La lavadora está desenchufada. • Asegúrese de que el cable de alimentación esté conectado de manera segura a un tomacorriente. El suministro de agua está cerrado. • Abra por completo las llaves de agua fría y caliente. Los controles no están configurados correctamente.
SOLUCIÓN DE PROBLEMAS 55 Problemas La manguera de desagüe está retorcida, pellizcada u obstruida. • Asegúrese que la manguera de drenaje esté libre de atascos o torceduras, y que no esté apretada detrás o debajo de la lavadora. El extremo de la manguera de drenaje está a más de 96 pulgadas (2.4 m) en relación al fondo de la lavadora. • Mueva el extremo de la manguera de drenaje para que esté a menos de 96 pulgadas (2.4 m). Los botones no funcionan correctamente.

Problemas Algo de olor es causado por la goma adjunta a la lavadora. • Este olor es normal en la goma nueva y desaparecerá después de haber utilizado la máquina algunas veces. Si la junta de goma de la puerta y la del area del sello de esta no se limpian regularmente, pueden producirse olores causados por moho o sustancias extrañas.
