Failure to follow this warning can cause serious injury, fire, electric shock, or death. • Certain internal parts are intentionally not grounded and may present a risk of electric shock only during servicing.
INSTALLATION 13 Choosing the Proper Location for wall, door, or floor moldings that may increase the required clearances. ENGLISH Check the following requirements for the install location before installing the appliance. • Allow for sufficient space between the walls and the appliance for installation. • Make sure that the floor is clean, dry and free of dust, dirt, water and oil so the leveling feet cannot slide easily.
INSTALLATION Clearances the transfer of vibration from one appliance to another. If there is enough vibration, it could cause appliances to make noise or come into contact, causing paint damage and further increasing noise. The following clearances are recommended for the appliance. • Additional clearances should be considered for ease of installation and servicing. • Additional clearances should be considered on all sides of the appliance to reduce noise transfer.
INSTALLATION 15 • Remove the bolt assemblies (bolts and retainers) by wiggling them slightly while pulling them out. 2 WARNING • The power cord (pigtail) connection between the wall receptacle and the dryer terminal block IS NOT supplied with the dryer. Type of pigtail and gauge of wire must conform to local codes and with instructions on the following pages. • The wiring and grounding must conform to the latest edition of the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70 and all applicable local regulations.
INSTALLATION WARNING • This dryer is supplied with the neutral wire grounded. This white ground wire MUST BE MOVED to the neutral terminal when a 4-wire cord is to be used, or where grounding through the neutral conductor is prohibited. Four-Wire Power Cord • A UL-listed strain relief is required. 5 Attach the two hot leads (black and red) of the power cord to the outer terminal block screws. 6 Attach the neutral (white) wire to the center screw of the terminal block.
INSTALLATION 17 insulation from each wire. Bend the ends of the three shorter wires into a hook shape. 9 Tighten all screws securely. 10 Reinstall the terminal block access cover. 1’’ (2.5 cm) a a Ground Wire 2 3 4 Remove the terminal block access cover on the upper back of the appliance. a White Wire moved from Ground Screw b Hot Leads of Power Cord (Black and Red) Install UL-listed strain relief into the power cord through-hole.
INSTALLATION Three-Wire Direct Wire • A 3-wire connection is NOT permitted on new construction after January 1, 1996. • A UL-listed strain relief is required. a Terminal Block b UL-Listed Strain Relief c UL-Listed 3-Wire Power Cord 4 5 6 • Use UL-listed 3-wire, #10 AWG minimum copper conductor cable. Allow at least 5 ft. (1.5 m) length to allow for removal and installation of dryer. 1 Attach the two hot leads (black and red) of the power cord to the outer terminal block screws. Remove 3.
INSTALLATION 19 Connect the external ground (if required by local codes) to the green ground screw. • Do not stretch the water hoses intentionally, and make sure that they are not pinched, crushed or kinked by other objects. 8 Tighten all screws securely. • Water supply pressure must be between 20 psi and 120 psi (138 - 827 kPa). If the water supply pressure is more than 120 psi, a pressure reducing valve must be installed. 9 Reinstall the terminal block access cover.
INSTALLATION 3 Flush out the inlet hoses. • After the hoses are connected, turn on the water faucets and flush out any foreign substances such as dirt, sand, or sawdust. • Let the water drain into a bucket, and check the water temperature to make sure you’ve connected the hoses to the correct faucets. • The end of the drain hose should be located a minimum of 24" (61 cm) and a maximum of 96" (244 cm) above the bottom of the washer.
INSTALLATION 21 4 Screw in the band to secure the drain hose of the dryer onto the stacking bracket. Connect the drain hoses from the washer and dryer to the drain hose connector. Tighten the band clamp a to keep the washer hose in place. 3 Use the band clamp b on the short drain hose (included) to attach it to the bottom opening of the drain hose connector. 4 Securely connect the short drain hose to a floor drain or standpipe.
INSTALLATION Using a Standpipe to Drain NOTE • The end of the drain hose should be located a minimum of 24" (61 cm) and a maximum of 96" (244 cm) above the bottom of the washer. For best results, locate the end of the drain hose no higher than 66" (168 cm) above the bottom of the washer. As the drain outlet is raised beyond 66" (168 cm), the drain function will be increasingly affected.
INSTALLATION 23 inch, and all 4 leveling feet must rest firmly on the floor. ENGLISH Leveling the Appliance The drum of the washer spins at very high speeds. To minimize vibration, noise, and unwanted movement, the floor must be a solid, level surface. CAUTION 1" 2 Adjust the leveling feet. • Turn all 4 leveling feet in one direction to raise the appliance or the other direction to lower it.
INSTALLATION Using Non-Skid Pads If you install the appliance on a slippery surface, it may move because of excessive vibration. Incorrect leveling may cause malfunction through noise and vibration. If this occurs, install the nonskid pads under the leveling feet and adjust the level. 1 Clean the floor to attach the non-skid pads. • Use a dry rag to remove and clean foreign objects or moisture. If moisture remains, the non-skid pads may slip.
INSTALLATION 25 4 Make sure that water is supplied, that the washer does not rock or vibrate excessively, and that it drains well during the spin cycle. 3 Press the Start/Pause button. • The appliance will start the test, which will last a few minutes. 4 Check the display for results. • If operating normally, the product installation mode is completed without error code. NOTE • If water leaks during water supply, see Connecting the Water Inlet Hoses to connect them properly.
APPENDIX APPENDIX Disassembly 4 Pull the control panel forward to remove it. 5 Disconnect the wire harnesses from the washer a and dryer b to the control panel.
