INTRODUCTION Congratulations on your choice of the Liebert Universal Serial Bus Adapter Card (P/N#: USBCARD). The USB card works with Windows-based PC operating systems. By using the built-in Windows Power Management software on Windows™ 2000/XP platforms, the user can monitor the UPS via the USB card. Items included with shipment are: • Intellislot™ USB card in an antistatic bag • User Manual • USB cable, 6-foot The Intellislot USB card provides one USB port for your Liebert UPS.
INSTALLATION Parts required • Intellislot USB Card • USB cable Tools required • Either #2 (medium) Phillips or small flat head screw driver. 1. It is not necessary to turn USB card the UPS off prior to instalbeing fitted in lation. Locate the IntellisIntellislot Port lot Port on the rear panel of your UPS. (Location and orientation may vary according to specific UPS model.) 2. Remove the two retaining screws of the Intellislot Port cover plate on the UPS back panel. Save the screws for reassembly. 3.
CONFIGURATION Connect USB Cable Connect the Intellislot USB card to an available USB port on the computer using the included USB cable. Configure Power Management for Automated Shutdown 1. Open the Power Options Properties window by clicking on Start, then Settings, Control Panel and, finally, Power Options. 2. In the Power Options Properties window, select the Power Meter tab. a. Click on the Battery icon in the Power status window.
b. The Detailed Battery information window appears. Verify the Battery Name is “USB Intellislot Card,” and the Manufacturer is “LIEBERT.” c. Click the OK button to return to the Power Options Properties window.
3. In the Power Options Properties window, select the Alarms tab. 4. Two alarms are available to perform automated OS shutdown: Low battery alarm and Critical battery alarm. An automated shutdown can be performed on either alarm. Alarms tab Alarm Action... buttons 5. To enable automated shutdown for either alarm, select the associated Alarm Action button for the alarm you would like to configure. a. Enable the Alarm Action by checking the box next to “When the Alarm goes off, the computer will:” b.
