Putting into operation - F0 to F9 - The power failure symbol flashes. 4 Putting into operation 4.1 Switching on the appliance Note u The refrigerator compartment is switched on automatically when the freezer compartment is switched on. 4.1.1 Switch on the freezer compartment The appliance should have been operating for about 4 hours before you stock it with frozen food. Malfunction u Remove detached pieces of ice. u Pay attention that the defrost water does not run into the kitchen unit. u If necessary, pick up defrost water several times, using a sponge or cloth. u Clean the appliance (see 6.2) and rub dry. 6.2 Cleaning the appliance WARNING Risk of injury and damage as a result of hot steam! Disposing of the appliance w The refrigerator compartment temperature display is dark. The refrigerator compartment is switched off. The freezer compartments remains in operation. 8.2 Taking the appliance out of service u Empty the appliance. u Pull out the power plug. u Clean the appliance (see 6.2) . u Leave the door open to prevent odour. 9 Disposing of the appliance The appliance contains some reusable materials and should be disposed of properly - not simply with unsorted household refuse.
