Installation Guide

1. Storage of cabin kit package at the site, sorting and checking the parts
Machined wall planks and other parts are delivered in protective wrapped unit(s). If the kit will not be
immediately installed, it should be kept indoors or otherwise well protected until ready to be set up. The
package should be elevated from the ground to avoid absorbing moisture and stored on a leveled base.
These instructions include parts list and drawings of the wall construction. Please check the contents in full
against the parts list and contact us immediately if something is missing or defective. The parts must be
well protected against weather and moisture of the ground before assembly. The cabin should be installed
as soon as possible after opening the package. If the work will be interrupted, the parts must be kept well
protected against weather. When storing and working please remember that wood is porous material and
need to be kept clean.
Please sort the parts near the planned building area leaving enough space for work area.
If you are to set up your first cabin, it is advisable to watch one of the short Lillevilla Cabin set up videos
found at www.AllwoodOutlet.com and also in YouTube. This will probably save your time later and helps to
avoid most common mistakes. Although it is possible to set up the kit alone, we strongly recommend it as a
two person operation. Especially when installing the roof.
2. Building permits
Please check with your local building authorities for any permits required before beginning construction.
3. Foundation
The most important aspect of the construction is the foundation. It must be flat, completely level and
stable. This is especially important on sites where the ground retains water.
Foundation made with cinder blocks or concrete blocks often practical for lighter cabins such as Lillevilla
Escape. There will be an equal amount of rows of blocks and joists. Size of the joists (included in the
package) determines the distance between the blocks. The maximum span is 6’ when using 2x4 joists and
max. 4’ for 2x3 joists. This type of foundation also works on gravel (drawing 3a). All foundation types must
be high enough to allow enough ventilation under the cabin. The foundation for the optional terrace must
be in level with the base for the cabin. When erecting a kit model equipped with threaded rods, please read
section 9.3. Threaded rods prior preparing the foundation.
