4.0. Foundation timbers
Begin the set up by assembling the joists at equal distances apart across the area of the base according to
the separate foundation drawing. Fasten the joists to the foundation, for example with angle irons
(excluded). The joists included in the kit are the same shared by various kit models. Check the length of
joists against the parts list and if necessary trim them. The joists are treated but it is advisable to add a
roofing felt strip (excluded) or another insulator between the foundation and the beams to stop moisture
from the foundation penetrating the wood. The first and last joists should be positioned about ½” inside
the vertical outside wall line (drawing 4). There are two important reasons for this: 1. Dripping rain water
will not end up on the joist 2. The first and last joists also support the edge of the floor.
