Installation Guide
4.1. Building up the frame
When building up the frame please use the wooden hammer blocks for assembly marked with the letter X.
NEVER HAMMER THE WALL BLANKS – ALWAYS USE A BLOCK IN BETWEEN. Place the block on top of each
wall plank (tongue side) and hit the assembly block so that the plank goes to the bottom (interlock). Use
only moderate force to avoid breaking the planks. If the plank does not easily fit into place, check that it is
straight on the groove joint of the plank underneath. The planks are machined accurately and should
require little force when assembling.
Begin building the frame by installing the bottom layer of planks on top of the foundation joists. Assemble
the tongue joints UPWARDS. Check the diagonal measurement of the log frame (drawing 5) and then fasten
the lowest full-height logs to the foundation with nails from the side of the logs (drawing 6). Remember to
pre-drill to avoid splitting the log. If the cabin excludes a floor and foundation beams, fasten the log frame
to the foundation with angled brackets (exluded).
Continue building up the walls one layer at a time according to the wall construction drawings. When
setting up the wall, please follow that the frame rises evenly. In other words, the joint of the crosswise log
corner must be in the middle of the log of another wall. Important: when building a cabin including both
drilled and un-drilled planks of the same length, they must not change position by mistake. Otherwise you
will not be able to install the threaded rods.
