ii ii SAFETY ELECTRIC SHOCK can kill. 3.a. The electrode and work (or ground) circuits are electrically “hot” when the welder is on. Do not touch these “hot” parts with your bare skin or wet clothing. Wear dry, hole-free gloves to insulate hands. 3.b. Insulate yourself from work and ground using dry insulation. Make certain the insulation is large enough to cover your full area of physical contact with work and ground.
iii iii SAFETY WELDING SPARKS can cause fire or explosion. 6.a. Remove fire hazards from the welding area. If this is not possible, cover them to prevent the welding sparks from starting a fire. Remember that welding sparks and hot materials from welding can easily go through small cracks and openings to adjacent areas. Avoid welding near hydraulic lines. 1 1 DESCRIPTION INSTALLATION The K289 is a Flux-Cored Fume Gun rated 500 amperes 60% duty cycle. It was developed to remove smoke emitted at the arc when welding with Innershield electrodes. The gun can use .068"(1.7mm), .072(1.8mm), 5/64"(2.0mm), 3/32"(2.4mm), 7/64”(2.8mm) and .120”(3.1mm) electrode at 3/4"(19.1mm) to 1-1/4"(31.8mm), 11/2"(38.1mm), 2-3/4"(69.9mm) and 3-3/4"(95.3mm) Contact Tip to Work Distance(CTWD).
