POD Farm 2 Advanced User Guide - POD Farm 2 Plug-In
4•34
Effect in Post: Mono-in to Stereo-out - Most Distortion, Dynamics & Filter category effects
receive Mono input (except for Stereo in & out models - see next point), as well as several
Mods & Delays. For these effects, Mono is created as a Left/Right collapse and fed into the
input of the effect. Effect output is Stereo. For example, if you move a Distortion effect from
Pre to Post, you’ll hear the stereo image sum to mono in Post, since the Distortion is now
receiving a mono input (and outputting 2 channels of audio, but these channels are now
really “dual mono”). Bypass the Post Distortion and you’ll hear stereo since the signal is not
fed thru the effect (and thus not summed to mono).
Stereo in & out models - These models do not sum their input to mono when placed in
Post, thus behaving just like Pre positioned effects on a stereo signal. In these effects, Stereo
channels are processed independently and the source’s stereo channelization is preserved;
4-Band EQ, Compressor, Noise Gate, Volume and all Wahs.
Mix knob - Some effects include a “Mix” parameter, which allows you to blend the % of
dry versus processed signal fed out of the effect. For these effects that include a Mono input
such as the Mods - analog Chorus effect, for example), increasing the Mix % will result in
an increasingly narrower stereo-ization - at 100%, the output of the effect will be Mono.
Stereo input source / Mono output - Same as above, except the Left/Right audio channels are
collapsed to mono before output.
POD Farm 2 Plug-In MIDI Control
Most POD Farm 2 amp, preamp and effects parameters are able to be accessed via MIDI, allowing you
to control them remotely using an external MIDI controller device, such as the Line 6 FBV™ MkII
series controllers, or other Line 6 devices. External MIDI controller devices connect to your computer
either via USB or 5-Pin MIDI port and send various types of MIDI messages which can be received by
your software applications and Plug-Ins.
We’ve already included useful MIDI control assignments built right in to most Tone Presets within
POD Farm 2 (see page 4•38). Or, you can use the POD Farm 2 MIDI Learn feature to easily create your
own MIDI control assignments (see page 4•38). Additionally, it is possible to navigate Setlists lled with
your desired Presets by conguring your MIDI device to send Bank & Program Change commands (see
“MIDI Control for Setlist & Preset Navigation” on page 4•41).
MIDI Controller Devices
3rd-party MIDI controller devices vary greatly - Attempting to cover these devices and their capabilities
is beyond the scope of this User Guide. To follow is some information on using Line 6 devices that
offer MIDI control capabilities. Please see the additional POD Farm 2 and FBV MkII documentation
available from the Line 6 Manuals site more about MIDI operation of these Line 6 devices:
FBV MkII Series Controllers - Use the Line 6 FBV Control application for conguring all
the USB MIDI settings. (Please see page 4•38 for more about using an FBV MkII controller to
instantly access the POD Farm 2 pre-congured MIDI assignments!) Note that when selecting
to receive MIDI from an FBV MkII device in your DAW software, you’ll see the USB MIDI port
names titled differently on Mac OS
®
X or Windows
®
versions (for FBV Express MkII, you’ll see
“Express” in place of “Shortboard” in the following titles).
