POD Farm 2 Advanced User Guide – Glossary (What Is...?)
10•8
“slapback” delay (great for that Rockabilly thing). Longer delay TIME gives you a distinctly separate
echo, and a higher FEEDBACK setting increases the number of echo repeats. You can also utilize the
SYNC button when using the POD Farm 2 & Elements Plug-In Host Sync feature to have your delay
repeats follow along to the tempo set in your DAW software project (a little U2 inspiration, perhaps?)
Please see “System Tempo - Host Sync and Tap Tempo Options” on page 4•14. Some Delay effects are
modeled after classic gear described in the “Model Gallery”.

What are the D.I. Level & Delay Mixer controls?
The D.I. (Direct Inject) Level and Delay knobs are found within the POD Farm 2 Mixer View. Both
Tone A and Tone B offer independent D.I. controls. The D.I. Level knob allows you to blend in some
of the “dry,” unprocessed signal from your Tone’s input source along with the main (effected) POD
Farm 2 Tone output signal.
This can be especially useful with a bass guitar input source, where you can mix in some “direct” bass
guitar input signal using the level knob, much like bassists do in the studio with a D.I. box or direct
mixer board input. The D.I. Delay knob offsets the D.I. signal by adding some delay to it - you can use
this to correct “phasing” issues. Phasing can occur when you are blending the D.I. signal with the POD
Farm 2 processed Tone, since the processed output can take milliseconds longer to reach the output
sometimes resulting in a signal phase cancellation when the two signals combine. Phasing can have a
“hollow” or thin sound and is typically not a desirable thing.
The D.I. Level & Delay knobs within the POD Farm 2 Mixer View
When used in POD Farm 2 in standalone operation, the D.I. signal is added to both your monitor
output as well as the signal fed to the Record Sends.
