Play View
HX Stomp XL has two main views—Play view and Edit view. Play view is typically used
when performing or jamming. The Edit view details are covered in the next chapter, on
page 16.
Press VIEW to select Play view.

Snapshot, and Pedal Edit modes. Each mode is covered below.
Stomp Footswitch Mode
Stomp mode displays colored labels representing the assignments for footswitches
1~6, so you know exactly what you’re stomping on in the heat of battle. Alternatively,
you can change the Stomp Mode to show four footswitch assignments, with Up/Down
switches at the left (accessed via the Global Settings > Footswitches > Stomp Mode
setting—see page 58.

Stomp Mode - 6 Switch Option Stomp Mode - 4 Switch Option
1. Stomp Mode Switches When the 6 Switch option is in use, each of the
footswitches 1~6 can do a number of things:
• Toggleoneormoreblocksonando
• Toggle between two values of one or more parameters
• Generate a MIDI, QWERTY Hotkey, HX Preset, HX Snapshot, or HX Looper
message
• All of the above, even simultaneously
The six labels indicate the block bypass, controller, and/or Command Center
assignments for HX Stomp XLs corresponding footswitches 1~6. The labels dim
when the block is bypassed. If the switch includes no assignment, its label is
blank.
NOTE: If a switch is assigned to multiple blocks or items, its box reads
“MULTIPLE (X),” where X is the number of assignments, and stepping on
the switch turns them all on and o. If some blocks areon and some are
bypassed, stepping on the switch toggles each block’s bypass state.
When the 4 Switch option is active, the left two grey labels display your selected Up/
Downoption—Bank,Preset,orSnapshot—asconguredbythe“Global Settings
> Footswitches” > Up/Down Switches setting. Press these and switches to
perform the following functions, depending on your Up/Down Switches setting.
• When Set to Bank - Press BANK or to select the desired bank. You
arethentemporarilysentintoPresetmode—pressthedesiredashingpreset’s
switch to load it. Once your preset selection is made, you are returned to the
Stomp mode.* Also, see “Preset Footswitch Mode”.
*NOTE: If you don’t want the Preset footswitches to disappear after selecting
one, set the “Global Settings > Footswitches” > Preset Mode parameter to
“Latch.” In this case, HX Stomp XL stays in Preset footswitch mode until you
press MODE (Edit/Exit).
TIPS: Press and release both and simultaneously to momentarily
change to Snapshot selection.
Press and hold both and simultaneously to change the Up/Down
Switches’ setting between Bank, Preset, or Snapshot.
• When Set to Preset - Press PRST or to load the next or previous preset.
• When Set to Snapshot - Press SNAP or to load the next or previous
snapshot within the current preset.
2. Preset Number & Name The currently-loaded preset’s bank, slot number, and
title are displayed at the top, in large type for visibility. Turn the upper knob to change
the loaded preset or press the upper knob to enter the Preset Menu—see the following
section.
3. Snapshot Indicator Press the upper knob and then turn Knob 2 (Snapshot
Select) to choose one of the preset’s four snapshots. (Or, you can optionally change to
the dedicated “Stomp Footswitch Mode”)
NOTE: When in Stomp mode and a 6 Switch Looper block is enabled, the
footswitch labels on the screen display the Looper functions —see “Looper” on
page 38.
