DESCRIPTION
The MPX is a compact, light-weight, wireless transmitter that can
be activated by squeezing both side bars. When activated, the
MPX sounds an internal beeper, lights its LED and signals an
alarm to a supervised security receiver.
The unit can be easily concealed, and is water and shock resistant.
For continuous emergency security, it can be clipped on a belt, or
be worn suspended from a neck chain. A belt clip and neck chain
are packaged with the unit.
NOTE: The MPX is only water resistant, DO NOT IMMERSE
THE UNIT IN WATER.
The transmitter is powered by two self-contained type DL2032 3-volt
lithium batteries (included). The batteries are monitored by Linear’s
custom supervisor circuit. When the battery voltage gets low, low
battery reports are automatically transmitted to the receiver every
hour for a minimum of seven days.
This unit incorporates Linear’s proprietary “MegaCode” circuit that
provides MPX transmitters with over one million security codes.
Each MPX transmitter has been pre-programmed at the factory to
one of the million codes. The transmitter will retain its
pre-programmed code even with low or no batteries. The
transmitter is designed to transmit two unique signals; one for low
battery, one for alarm.
FIGURE 1 To program transmitter into receiver. Follow the
receiver’s instructions to set it into a program or learn mode. Press
the two side bars of the transmitter for about two seconds to send
a signal. Verify that the signal was received and that the transmitter
was properly entered into the receiver’s memory. Set the receiver
into a sensor test mode. Activate the transmitter again and verify
that the receiver accepts the alarm transmission.
FIGURE 2 To trigger an alarm. To send an alarm to the
receiver, both side bars of the MPX must be pressed
simultaneously for a
minimum of two seconds. The two-button
feature provides protection against false alarms. When the unit is
transmitting, the red LED will light.
FIGURE 3 Low battery signal. Under normal conditions, the
two lithium batteries that power the MPX should last from 2 to 3
years. When the batteries get low, the unit will automatically send
a low battery signal to the receiver every hour for a minimum of
seven days. When
the transmitter
sends the low
battery signal, the
LED will blink and the
internal beeper will
sound descending
tones. Pressing
both side bars will
still send an alarm
signal, even when
the transmitter has
low batteries.
FIGURE 4 Battery replacement. The MPX uses two coin cell
lithium/manganese dioxide batteries. Duracell type DL2032 are
recommended for replacement. Remove the battery door to
access the batteries. Install the new batteries with the plus sides
toward the outside of the unit.
CAUTION: To prevent battery damage, do not allow sides of
batteries to touch, or place batteries together on a metal
surface.
FIGURE 5 Installing neck chain. The MPX belt clip can be
removed and replaced with the neck chain supplied. The neck
chain is held to the transmitter with the chain retaining plate.

IMPORTANT !!!
Linear radio controls provide a reliable communications link and fill an important need in portable wireless
signalling. However, there are some limitations which must be observed.
For U.S. installations only: The radios are required to comply with FCC Rules and Regulations as Part 15
devices. As such, they have limited transmitter power and therefore limited range.
A receiver cannot respond to more than one transmitted signal at a time and may be blocked by radio signals
that occur on or near their operating frequencies, regardless of code settings.
Changes or modifications to the device may void FCC compliance.
Infrequently used radio links should be tested regularly to protect against undetected interference or fault.
A general knowledge of radio and its vagaries should be gained prior to acting as a wholesale distributor or
dealer, and these facts should be communicated to the ultimate users.
