Overview
During the relocation of office space from
the top floor to a lower level, museum
management decided to upgrade dated
networking technology with high-performance
Linksys and Belkin solutions.
Objective
Find a networking solution that would enable
better connectivity around the office, improve
daily tasks and processes, and support future
expansion.
Approach
Linksys installed Smart PoE+ switches,
Wireless-N600 Dual Band access points,
and Belkin Cat5e patch cables to cover
all of the museum’s networking and
infrastructure needs.
Background
With a passion for cars, the non-profit Los Angeles–based Petersen
Automotive Museum lovingly displays 150 of the 300-plus themed
vehicles in its inventory alongside rare automotive parts, artwork,
photographs, and more—all donated by car aficionados. Since its
opening in 1994, the 300,000-square-foot museum has been a
popular destination on the city’s “Miracle Mile,” featuring a now-famous
Streetscape theme that provides an immersive experience for visitors.
In 2014, it became clear that the third level of the building, which was
designated as office space for a staff of 45, was prime real estate for
a museum expansion. The museum made the decision to embark on
an extensive two-part renovation, with the first phase of construction
focused on relocating the offices down to the lower level of the building.
