IN-DASH MOUNTING The GlobalNavII can be installed in thedash with the supplied hardware if the dash is 1/2" thick or less. The white and green wires are for a NMEA interface. The AccuNavil sends data to another electronic navigation devices through the white wire and receivesNMEA data through the greenwire. If the white and green wires are not used, tape their ends so that they cannot short. Pole Mount First, thread the pole mounting adapter onto the mounting pole or ratchet base. Align the pole mounting adapterso the module will face the bow of the boat. The plotter display automatically shows a .1 mile display in the Man Overboard mode. Your position when the Man Overboard key was pressed is shown by the'S" with a circle and by the waypoint icon with a "0." SELECTNMEA The GlobalNav II sends data out the white wire on the power cable according to standards set by the NMEA (National Marine Electronics Association). This allows the GlobalNav II to send position, depth, and navigation information to 'listener" units, such as charting instruments, autopilots, and other marine instruments. The GlobalNav II uses the following NMEA data protocols: NMEA 0180 and 0183. NMEA 0180 sends steeringinformation only. It's useful mainly for autopilots.
ACCURACY Youmayhave heardtalesof extraordinaryaccuracyfromGPSreceivers.The DOD requiresaccuracyof 1 Oto 15metersfromthesatellitesystem.However, onlythe militarygetsthisprecision.Thewaythemilitary keeps usandother unauthorized peoplefrom usingthe moreprecise systemis coding. Inother words,thedatacomingfromthesateiiitesisencrypted. CivilianaPSreceivers use"C/ACode." It'saccuracyisintentionallyworsethanthemilitary's"PCode." Inthismanner,civilianusersworldwidecanbenefitfromexcellentpositionfixes.
Afteryou'veselected thedesired route, press the key next to the "ERASE RTE"label.Thiserases the routefrommemory. Finally, pressthe key next to the'EXIT" abel. This returns you to the GPS display. GPS ALARMS The GlobalNav II has three GPS alarms. One is an arrival alarm that sounds when you comewithin a preset distance to a waypoint. Another is a crosstrackerror alarm that soundswhenyou move offcourse more than the alarm's setting.
Note: Ifyoudon't usethe"coldstart"feature, then youwill haveto change all of thesettingson this page to their correctvalues.In otherwords, you can't simplyenteryour presentposition and havetheunitfindthe correct values by itself. cnArlut I'USIIIUN Use a chart to determine your position if you don't know it. The latitude! longitudethatyou enterdoesn't havetobeextremely accurate.
ingthewaypointsuntil all ofthewaypoints havebeen enteredfortheroute. Then press the key nextto the 'Save RTE" label. This saves your route in memory. IMPORTANT! You must selectwaypoints in the order they are to be used in the route. In other words, suppose you want a route that consists of waypoint numbers 1, 3, and 5. However, youwish to travel to 3 first, then 1, and finally 5. In this case, you mustselect waypoint 3, 1, and 5 in that order when making the route.
If the unitcan't lock on to the satellites usingthedata you'vegiven it, or if it has trouble finding the satellites, perhapsit is using the wrong data. This can happen if you've entered the wrong data by accident. For example, giveniteastlongitude instead ofwest. Orifyou'vemoved along distancewith the unitturned off. To send a cold start message to thereceiver, pressthe MENU key. Now pressthekey nextto the "ChangeGPS Settings" label. Finally, press the key nextto the "OPS"COLD" Start"label.
Now pressthe key nextto the"Increase WPT"or "Decrease WPT" label untilthedesiredwaypoint number appears on the screen. _______ When itdoes, simplypress the key nexttothe"GotoWaypoint" IILAT : H 36°08.915' label. TheGlobalNavII returns LOM : U to the last used screen, showing navigation data to the waypoint you recalled. The GlobalNav II has a five channel GPSreceiver. Data on each channel is shown at the top of the display.

Nowpressthe down arrow key to the latitude position. Press the key next to the Change Latitude" label. The screen shown belowappears. Nowenterthelocationyouwish Pm: to save using the numbered keys. Usethe left arrow key as AT : i;— ._...j a backspace if you make a LON mistake.
In this example, we changed IF theSpeed OverGround(500) display to XTE (Cross Track Error)bypressing theup arrow key eight times. To changeanother digital display, press the left or right arrow key. The label in the next digital displaybox changes as youpress thearrow key. The plotterwindowappears in the upper right corner of the screen. Press the keyadjacent to the "Next Window" label to move through the windows,if youreach thelastwindow,or if you wish to go backwards through the windows, press the key nextto the "Prey Window" label. When the desired windowisonthescreen,pressthe key next to the 'Use Window" label.Thescreen clears,placthe new window in the left corner of the screen.
PLO111NG WITH A WAYPOINT Using the plotterwitharecalled waypoint or route is an easy way Lu ee [he eeuw u wind and current on your boat. It also simplifies navigation. To usetheplotter in this manner, first recalla waypointor start a route. (See the Waypoint Recall sectionfor more information.) Then pressthe PLOTTER key. A screen similar to theone above appears. The'S"is yourstartinglocation. Thiswasyour position whenyourecalled the waypoint.Theflashingcircle with acrossisyour present position.

The menu on the right side of the screen lets you switchbetween the"pages" ofdisplays. These are lettered "A" through "I". Group "A" shows first. Press the down arrow key to move forwardthrough the screens. SET RANGE Use the "Set Range" menu to change the plotter's range or distance across the plotter's display.
The unit returns to the plotter screen with ablackboxaround the position display at the top ofthescreen as shown below. The word "POSITION" also flashes,identifyingit as ready for change. Press the left or right arrow keys to change the data displayedin that box. For example, N You can changethe displayson the GlobalNav Ilby usingthe windows feature. This lets you customize displays to your own fishing or boating situations.

SELECT UNITS OF MEASURE The GiobalNav II can display distance in miles, kilometers, or nautical miles, velocity in miles cer hour. kilometers per hour, or knots, bearing in degreesmagneticortrue,altitude infeetormeters,and timein 12 hour or 24 hour format.
