Important Notes
1. Do not use with exhaust fans.
2. Do not use with fans having integrated remote controls.
3. Use MACL-LFQ control with only one ceiling paddle fan per
control. Not for use with DC motor fans.
4. CAUTION: Use only with permanently installed ceiling fan fixtures
with screw-in compact fluorescent, screw-in LED, halogen,
or incandescent lamps. To avoid overheating and possible
damage to other equipment, do not use to control receptacles,
motor-driven appliances, or low-voltage transformer-supplied
appliances.
5. Install in accordance with all national and local electrical codes.
6. When no “grounding means” exists in wallbox, the 2011
National Electrical Code® (NEC®) allows a control to be installed
as a replacement if 1) a nonmetallic, noncombustible faceplate
is used with non-metallic attachment screws or 2) the circuit
is protected by a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI). When
installing a control according to these methods, cap or remove
green wire before screwing control into wallbox and use an
appropriate faceplate such as Claro or Satin Colors series
wallplates by Lutron.
7. For indoor use only between 32 °F and 104 °F (0 °C and 40 °C).
8. Clean dimmers with a soft damp cloth only. Do not use any
chemical cleaners.

Symptom Solution
Fan and light do not turn ON and no
indicator lights turn ON.
• Ensure Front Accessible Service Switch (FASS) is fully pushed in to the ON position.
• Ensure both fan and light pull chain are set to highest possible setting.
• Light bulb(s) burned out and the fan pull chain is in the off position. Ensure fan pull chain is
in the high speed setting and replace light bulbs as needed.
• Breaker is OFF or tripped (or fuse blown). Reset breaker or replace fuse. If condition
persists, contact Lutron Technical Support Center or a licensed electrician.
Fan does not work. • Fan direction switch is between forward and reverse. Set switch to desired position.
Fan vibrates or wobbles. • Fan blades not properly balanced. See fan manufacturer’s instructions.
Light button controls fan and vice-versa. • Fan and light wires are reversed. Review installation steps and revise wiring.
Fan speed is too slow. • Set fan pull chain speed to high.
CFLs or LEDs do not dim, have a poor
dimming range, or they flicker/flash.
• Ensure the bulbs you’re using are marked as dimmable.
• Ensure the bulbs you’re using are on Lutron’s Compatibility List, found at
www.lutron.com/dimcflled
• If the dimmable bulbs you’re using aren’t found on this list, we suggest contacting the LED
manufacturer for a dimming recommendation.
• Adjust low-end trim.
